CM Revanth Reddy launches ₹50.73cr sports infrastructure projects across Telangana

Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy, along with governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, on Friday launched and laid foundation stones for sports infrastructure projects worth ₹50.73 crore aimed at strengthening the state’s sporting ecosystem and nurturing young talent.

The chief minister laid foundation stones for sports infrastructure development works and mini stadium projects worth ₹36.65 crore across various districts. He also inaugurated sports academies worth ₹14.08 crore established at Gachibowli and LB Stadiums for the training and development of young athletes.

Among the projects launched, a mini stadium will be constructed at Kondurg mandal headquarters in Shadnagar constituency of Rangareddy district at a cost of ₹10 crore. Another ₹10 crore has been allocated for the modernization of Dr BR Ambedkar Stadium in Sangareddy district headquarters.

Additional projects include a ₹4 crore mini stadium at Narva mandal headquarters in Narayanpet district and a ₹4 crore multi-purpose sports complex at Atmakur in Wanaparthy district. The Atmakur project comprises kabaddi, volleyball and kho-kho courts, a cricket ground and a walking track.

Sports Projects in Telangana

The chief minister also laid foundation stones for a ₹3.50 crore mini stadium at Gandhari mandal headquarters in Kamareddy district, a ₹2.65 crore mini stadium at Narsapur constituency headquarters in Medak district, and volleyball and kabaddi courts at Utkur in Makthal mandal of Narayanpet district at a cost of ₹2.50 crore.

As part of the inauguration programme, Revanth Reddy launched FIFA-AIFF Telangana Talent Academies for boys and girls at Gachibowli Stadium, each established at a cost of ₹5.70 crore. He also inaugurated athletics academies and hockey academies for boys and girls at the same venue.

At LB Stadium, the chief minister inaugurated a football academy for boys built at a cost of ₹58.50 lakh and a handball academy for boys developed at a cost of ₹49 lakh.

The initiatives are aimed at expanding access to quality sports infrastructure, providing scientific training facilities and creating opportunities for young athletes to excel at national and international levels.

Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, sports minister Vakiti Srihari, ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Duddilla Sridhar Babu, former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin, MLA Adluri Laxman Kumar, Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shivasena Reddy, managing director Dr Sonibala Devi and other dignitaries attended the programme.
