Bhakti Jayesh of Maharashtra won the title an intense final bout at the Legacy Fighting Championship (LFC-2), a Mixed Martial Arts championship held at the Katedan GHMC Sports Complex in Hyderabad. Bhakti Jayesh won by 30-27 against Aarya Choudhary of Madhya Pradesh.
Winning is not the only measure of success in sports; discipline, determination, perseverance and the fighting spirit are equally important, said Telangana sports minister Vakiti Srihari after presenting the award to Bhakti Jayesh.
The minister, along with SAT Chairman K Shivasena Reddy, attended the grand finale of the Legacy Fighting Championship (LFC-2). The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with more than 7,000 spectators turning up to watch the action live, creating a vibrant atmosphere at the stadium.
The minister and SAT chairman interacted with the participating athletes before witnessing the championship bouts. A total of 22 international fighters competed in the tournament, which featured a series of highly competitive bouts.
Speaking on the occasion, Srihari said the Telangana government was committed to promoting sports and encouraging greater participation among the youth. He emphasised that disciplines such as Mixed Martial Arts can play an important role in developing discipline, confidence, perseverance and a strong competitive spirit among young people.
He further said the government would continue to extend support to Mixed Martial Arts and other sporting disciplines with the objective of nurturing sporting talent and creating greater opportunities for the youth of Telangana.
The event was attended by Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud, National Mixed Martial Arts Association joint secretary Sheikh Khalid, Alpha Global CEO Tayaba Sultana, and other dignitaries and representatives from the sporting fraternity.
