Andhra Pradesh women won the Beyond Sight women’s blind cricket tournament which was held at the Waltair Railway Cricket Ground in Visakhapatnam from May 2.
In a three-match T20 series between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the hosts made a clean sweep of the series by winning it 3-0.
Andhra Pradesh women richer by ₹25,000
The Andhra Pradesh team was awarded a cash prize of ₹25,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up, received a cash prize of ₹15,000 along with a trophy. The players who delivered the most outstanding performances in the tournament were declared the Players of the Series. They are: B1 category: P Karuna Kumari (Andhra Pradesh), B2 category: S Mikka (Andhra Pradesh) and B3 category: M Sindhu (Tamil Nadu).
The tournament was jointly organized by the Cricket Association for the Blind in Andhra Pradesh and the Differently Abled Cricket Council of Andhra Pradesh, with support provided by Nethra Vidyalaya, Visakhapatnam, and the Waltair Railway Division (East Coast Zone).

ADRM (OP) K Rama Rao, assistant sports officer K R Patel, assistant director of the department for the differently abled & senior citizens Kavitha, correspondent of Nethra Vidyalaya Sirisha, Arjuna awardee Ajay Kumar Reddy, vice president of the Cricket Association for the Blind in Andhra Pradesh Jyothi, and executive committee member L Naresh graced the prize distribution ceremony.

The organizers and guests stated that such sporting events foster equality within society and emphasized that it is everyone’s responsibility to provide encouragement to athletes with disabilities.

“If one’s goal is noble, no obstacle can stand in the way. This tournament has proven that mental fortitude is far more important than physical limitations, and that athletes with disabilities can excel on par with able-bodied individuals through their sheer talent,” they observed.
The organizers urged everyone to extend their full cooperation to ensure that many more such events are organized in the future.
