Suraj Kumar Chand defeated Jeongmin Ryu, while Rouqaia Othman got the better off Harleein Tan to claim the titles at the HCL Squash PSA Challenger Tour, Chennai 2026 in Chennai.

Home favorite Chand was the No.2 seed, but became the highest-ranked player left in the draw when top seed Ravindu Laksiri went out in the quarterfinals. He proceeded to live up to the billing, too, not dropping a game en route to glory, needing only 34 minutes to ease past Ryu in the final, claiming his fourth PSA Tour title.

In the women’s draw, 18-year-old Othman warmed up for her World Championships debut with a maiden PSA Tour title. The Egyptian teenager is a wildcard for next month’s World Champs in Cairo, and will go into that event with a confidence boost after securing her first piece of Tour silverware.

She did so by beating Rui Jean Yen, Rathika Seelan and Sehveetrraa Kumar, before getting the better of Malaysia’s Tan in the final.

Ellie Breach goes one better than last time

At the The Smyths Toys Hinckley Challenger 2025, Ellie Breach won her first PSA Squash Tour title even as Egypt’s Ahmed Rashed secured victory in the men’s event.

Wales’ Breach, who will compete for her country at the upcoming European Team Championships, was a runner-up in this event 12 months ago, but went one better this time around. She did so by beating England’s Emily Coulcher-Porter in the final, capping an impressive week in which she knocked out top seed Karolina Sramkova in five games on quarterfinals day.

Breach’s win was followed by Rashed’s success in the men’s event, which came courtesy of a 3-0 win over AbdAllah Eissa. Rashed, a student at UWE, needed close to an hour to get the better of Titouan Isambard in the semi-finals, but put in an accomplished display in the final, winning 11-8, 11-8, 11-9 to secure his second title of the season.

Youssef, Amira bag titles

Youssef Roushdy and Amira Elrefaey both secured their first Challenger event wins at the Assore Tour #2 2026, coming out on top of an all-Egyptian finals day in South Africa.

The 18-year-old Elrefaey was playing in her very first Tour final, taking on compatriot Malak Elmaraghy after beating Hana Aladdin 3-2 in the semifinals.

Elmaraghy and Elrefaey are separated by just 20 places in the world rankings, and proceeded to play out a closely-fought match on court, going into a decider after splitting the first four games.

But it would be Elrefaey who emerged victorious, closing out victory 11-7 in the fifth to get her hands on Tour silverware for the very first time.

That feat was then matched by Roushdy in the men’s event, as he dominated Ahmed Sherif in little more than half an hour, winning 11-3, 11-5, 11-7 to secure glory.

Buenaño and Mometto dominate

Caridad Buenaño and Pedro Mometto both produced dominant displays to win the Copa do Brasil de Squash 2026 crowns. Brazil’s Mometto only dropped one game during his run to the final, coming in a 3-1 win against Alvaro Buenaño, brother of Caridad, in the semifinals, which ended hopes of a Buenaño family double.

Mometto then completed a successful week with an 11-4, 11-8, 11-2 victory over fellow Brazilian Murilo Penteado, but not before Buenaño had won an even more one-sided final in the women’s draw.

Taking on Brazil’s Juliana Feibelmann, the Ecuadorian won the first game 11-5 and would only lose another two points in the match, recording a bagel in the second before winning game three 11-2 to get her hands on the trophy.
