With the objective of taking quality sports education to the grassroots and strengthening the sporting culture across Telangana, the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) successfully conducted the “Telangana Sports Knowledge on Wheels” programme across all 33 district headquarters over a period of three days.
Telangana Sports Knowledge on Wheels receives enthusiastic response across districts
The initiative was formally launched at the Gachibowli Stadium by Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy, in the presence of Indian Olympic Association president P T Usha. Following the inauguration, the programme was rolled out simultaneously in all 33 district headquarters, witnessing enthusiastic participation from Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Physical Directors (PDs), senior sportspersons, Sports Authority academy athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts.

Conceptualised by the Telangana sports department, the Sports Knowledge on Wheels initiative aims to bring scientific sports knowledge and expert guidance to every district, mandal and village across the State, thereby creating a strong foundation for sporting excellence at the grassroots level.
Each mobile team comprised three coaches, one physiotherapist, three senior athletes and a designated officer. Equipped with specially designed training kits, the teams delivered scientific knowledge, practical demonstrations and technical guidance on various aspects of sports training.

The refresher training programme focused on key areas including fundamental sports skills and techniques, injury prevention, rehabilitation and recovery, hydration and sports nutrition, stress management, and athletes’ mental health. The sessions were designed for coaches, Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Physical Directors (PDs), athletes and sports enthusiasts.
The programme also adopted a cascading training model, wherein the trained coaches, PETs and senior athletes will further disseminate the knowledge and best practices to budding athletes at the grassroots level, ensuring wider outreach and long-term impact.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the sports ecosystem in Telangana by improving coaching standards, promoting scientific training methods, enhancing awareness on athlete welfare and identifying and nurturing sporting talent from every district, particularly from rural areas.
The programme received an excellent response from participants across the state, with coaches, athletes and Physical Education professionals appreciating the Government’s initiative to make quality sports education accessible even in remote regions.
Officials of the Sports Authority of Telangana continuously coordinated the programme from Hyderabad while also visiting various districts to monitor and oversee its successful implementation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sonibala Devi, managing director, Sports Authority of Telangana, said that the first phase of the Sports Knowledge on Wheels programme had been successfully completed in all 33 district headquarters. She further announced that the initiative would soon be expanded to important Assembly constituency headquarters and other regions with active sporting participation, enabling more athletes and sports professionals to benefit from scientific sports education and expert guidance.
