Telangana emerged as overall champions in the Sub-Junior girls’ category at the ASMITA South Zone Canoe Sprint Championship in Visakhapatnam.

The team delivered an impressive performance, winning a total of 13 medals, including 3 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals.

Kerala girls finished second with eight medals, which included two gold, five silver and a bronze medal. In the third place were Madhya Pradesh, who bagged six medals, three gold, a silver and two bronze medals.  Hosts Andhra Pradesh finished in the sixth spot with a bronze medal.

The medal-winning Telangana contingent, coached by Puli Ramakrishna, kayaking and canoeing coach of the Sports Authority of Telangana, comprised Chandana, Sravanthi, Sindhu, Divyashree, Avantika, Nivedita, Bindu, Jaswika, Rekha, Anusha, Nageshwari, P Srivalli, and M K Nishi.

The outstanding achievement reflects the dedication of the athletes and the systematic training provided by the Sports Authority of Telangana.

The winners were congratulated by Shivasena Reddy, chairman of the Sports Authority of Telangana, and Dr A Sonibala Devi, managing director, who appreciated the team’s remarkable performance and wished them continued success in future competitions.
