Tanvi Sharma produced a strong performance to reach the semifinals of the Orleans Masters 2026 at the Palais des Sports in France on Friday. The young shuttler defeated sixth seed Natsuki Nidaira of Japan in straight games, 21-14, 21-14, in a 43-minute encounter.

She will next face a tough challenge against fifth seed and Olympic bronze medallist Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the semifinals, as she eyes her second final appearance at a BWF Super 300 event.

India’s Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun exited the Orleans Masters 2026 after losing to the third-seeded Indonesian pair in the quarterfinals.

Earlier, Tanvi had scored a straight game win over compatriot Anmol Kharb to reach the quarterfinals. Tanvi defeated world No. 51 Anmol Kharb 21-14, 21-17 in the second round of the BWF Super 300 tournament.

World Junior Championships silver medallist Tanvi Sharma, who got past second seed Supanida Katethong of Thailand in the first round, raced to a five-point lead at the interval before comfortably wrapping up the opener.

The second game followed a similar script with Tanvi Sharma opening up an 11-7 lead at the interval.

However, Anmol Kharb mounted a spirited comeback to draw level at 17-all, but Tanvi Sharma held her nerve at the crucial juncture and picked up four straight points to seal the contest and book her place in the next round.

This was Tanvi Sharma’s third win in four encounters against Anmol Kharb.

Malvika Bansod followed Tanvi Sharma into the quarters after defeating Wong Ling Ching of Malaysia 24-22, 21-13.

Isharani Baruah also progressed to the women’s singles second round after a 21-11, 14-21, 21-17 victory against Wen Yu Zhang of China.

In men’s doubles, Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun secured a convincing victory over Scotland’s Alexander Dunn and Adam Pringle.

The Indian pair edged a closely fought opening game in the tie-break before dominating the second to seal the match 26-24, 21-14 in 35 minutes.
