St Ann’s Women’s College emerge badminton queens of Osmania University, Bhavans 2nd

St Ann’s Women’s College (Mehdipatnam) clinched the Osmania University Inter-College badminton tournament for women 2026-27. St Ann’s defeated Bhavans Vivekananda Degree and PG College 2-0 at the Kode Venkatadri Chowdary Sports Complex, VNRVJIET, Bachupally, Hyderabad, on Saturday.

The tournament, in which 16 teams participated, was organized by Vignana Jyothi Institute of Arts and Science, Bachupally, Hyderabad.

In the league phase, St Ann’s Women’s College emerge toppers in Pool A, while Bhavans Vivekananda Degree and PG College stole the show in Pool B. CBIT (Gandipet) topped Pool C and St Joseph’s Degree and PG College (King Koti) emerged winners in Pool D.

In the semifinals, St Ann’s Women’s College defeated St Joseph’s Degree and PG College 2-0, while Bhavans Vivekananda Degree and PG College overcame a fighting CBIT 2-1.

Dr Chennakeshava Rao, principal of VNR Vignan Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes. Guest of honour Prof K Deepla, secretary, Board of Control, Inter University Tournaments, Osmania University, Hyderabad, addressed the gathering of the event. Dr N Aruna, principal, VJIAS, Bachupally, grace the occasion and organising secretary Prof Sri Rama, physical director, VNR VJIET, proposed vote of thanks.

Results: Final: St Ann’s Women’s College (Mehdipatnam) beat Bhavans Vivekananda Degree and PG College 2-0.

3rd place: St Joseph’s Degree and PG College (King Koti) beat CBIT (Gandipet) 2-1.

Semifinals: St Ann’s Women’s College beat St Joseph’s Degree and PG College 2-0; Bhavans Vivekananda Degree and PG College beat CBIT 2-1.
