Shashank Lokesh slammed an unbeaten double century to set up Cambridge XI’s 113-run win over Combined District-2 in the HCA’s A Division (2-day) League Championship in Hyderabad on Friday.

Resuming at his overnight score of 131, Shashank went on to make 203 off 207 balls with 25 hits to the fence and two sixes. Cambridge, who were 302 for four, went on to reach 425 for five in 72 overs.
In reply, Combined Districts-2 fought well but the task was well beyond their reach. They ended up with 312 with T Harshwardhan Singh making a topscore of 86.
Vignesh, Raghava, Naman, Nitish hit centuries
A Vignesh Reddy struck a century to help Sporting XI cruise to a five-wicket win over AOC.
Replying to AOC’s 406, Sporting XI made 407 for five thanks to Vignesh Reddy’s 101 which came off 138 balls and contained nine fours and a six. Half-centuries from the blades of A Varun Goud (86), A Takshith Rao (77), Deepanshu Chowhan (55 not out) and B Rathan Teja (52 not out) helped Sporting XI overhaul the AOC target.
The R Dayanand and Deccan Wanderers game saw three batters score centuries but at the end it was Deccan Wanderers who had the last laugh.

Raghava Pattapu scored 124 off 183 balls with 11 fours and two sixes and Naman Agarwal made 100 off 120 balls with eight fours and a six as R Dayanand scored 263 for four.
In reply, Deccan Wanderers reached 269 for five thanks to P Nitish Reddy’s 140 which came off 160 balls with 13 hits to the fence and three sixes.
UBI fall to SCRSA, SBI lose to Budding Star
The bank teams were one of the strongest ones in the HCA leagues in the bygone days. Teams used to shudder to play against the bank teams as they were star-studded. With the banks stopping recruitment in the sports quota, the teams that are playing in the leagues now are a pale shadow of their erstwhile strength.
Union Bank of India (UBI), the erstwhile Andhra Bank, crashed to their second consecutive defeat in as many rounds. After losing out to Jai Hanuman within a day, UBI crashed to a 55-run loss to South Central Railway Sports Association (SCRSA). Replying to SCRSA’s 305, UBI could make 250 with Wafi Kachchhi making 70.
State Bank of India, whose first-round match against AOC was washed out on the second day, to put up a shoddy show against Budding Star. The bankers lost by 83 runs.
Replying to Budding Star’s 380, SBI could reach 297 with veterans S Anoop Pai scoring 78 and Danny Derek Prince making 72.
