Mahatma Jyoti Phule Telangana Backward Classes (MJPTBC) School stole the show at the 70th SGFI Nampally Mandal Inter-School Tournament-cum-Selections 2026 in kabaddi and kho-kho for Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls at LB Stadium in Hyderabad.
MJPTBC won three titles in the kho-kho competitions, while sweeping the Under-14 titles in the kabaddi events.
MJPTBC triumphed in the Under-14 boys, Under-17 boys’ and girls’ categories of kho-kho events. Rosary Convent High School won the Under-14 girls’ title while MJPTBC girls came in second. Rosary Convent girls finished second in the Under-17 girls’ event.
Diamond Jubilee High School got the second place in the Under-14 boys’ event, while GHS Esamia Bazar finished second in Under-17 boys and third in Under14 boys’ events.
In kabaddi competitions, MJPT won the Under-14 boys and girls events, while finishing second in the Under-17 boys and girls categories.
VV High School took the honours in the Under-17 boys and girls events.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across Nampally Mandal, providing young sportspersons an opportunity to showcase their talent and compete for selection to represent the mandal at the next level of SGFI competitions.
Chief guest M Somireddy, regional joint director, Telangana school education department, appreciated the efforts of the organisers, physical education teachers, headmasters and students in promoting sports and fitness among school children.
The programme was graced by Md Iqbal Hussain, deputy secretary, finance department, government of Telangana; Dr K Rami Reddy, former SGF secretary, Telangana; P Veera Lakshmi, deputy educational officer, Nampally Mandal; Dr M Ravi Kumar, handball coach & SATG LB Stadium administrator; and R Naresh, project manager, Impact Moinee Foundation, along with the headmasters of all 15 Government High Schools of Nampally Mandal.
The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the organisers and the physical education fraternity for providing a structured and competitive platform for school students to develop their sporting skills, discipline and team spirit.
Organising secretary P Jagan Mohan Goud expressed his sincere gratitude to the chief guest, distinguished guests, headmasters, physical education teachers, officials, referees, volunteers and students for their valuable support and cooperation in making the tournament a successful event.
