Hy-Rollers thrashed Apex Strikers 4-0 to notch their second consecutive victory in as many matches in the Hyderabad Padel League at Hyderabad Padel Park, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
Hy-Rollers, who are on top of the table in the seven-team league, brooked no challenge against Apex Strikers, who were woefully ill-prepared to take on the mighty Hy-Rollers.
In the opening men’s doubles tie, Hy-Rollers’ skipper Krishna Teja and southpaw Vineeth got the better of Vishnu Pullela and Rishabh Kishore of Apex Strikers 4-3 (10-8), 4-3 (7-2).

The Hy-Rollers started the contest with a lead of 2-0. But Vishnu Pullela and Rishabh Kishore came back strong to hold their serve and then broke their rivals to level the score 2-2. The set wet to the tie-break and both teams rallied till 5-5 and then Hy-Rollers saved two set points before closing out the set.

Similarly in the second set both teams went neck and neck and did not lose their serves. It resulted in yet another tiebreak to decide the winners. Hy-Rollers stuck to their plans and closed it out easily with a 7-2 verdict.
In the women’s doubles, Padma Veda and Maithili began with a bang but suffered a mid-match collapse before pulling off a victory against Bhakti and Rithika. The Hy-Rollers duo won 4-0, 2-4, 7-5.
Padma and Maithili began in whirlwind fashion as they cruised to a 4-0 win in the first set. However, Apex Strikers’ Bhakti and Rithika changed tactics and speeded up their game with hard strokes. This helped them to catch their rivals off guard and win the set 4-2.
In the match tiebreak, Apex Strikers continued with their momentum from the second set but Maithili’s defence and southpaw Padma’s experience carried them till 6-5. With everything at stake, Bhakti failed to handle the pressure and served a double fault which handed the match to Hy-Rollers. They were now 2-0 in the contest.
In the second men’s doubles tie, Hy-Rollers’ pair Yaswanth Reddy and DRC Kiron defeated Apex Strikers’ Yashas Chandra and Sameer 4-0, 3-4 (2-7), 9-7. The contest ran a similar course like the women’s doubles tie.

Yaswanth Reddy and DRC Kiron began soundly as they proved quite a handful for Yashas Chandra and Sameer as they cruised to a 4-0 win in the first set.
Yashas and Sameer then fought tooth-and-nail in the second set to upset their rivals’ gameplan. Apex Strikers’ level the set and then took the tiebreak to come back into contention.
In the match tiebreak, both teams sailed along well till 5-5 and then Apex Strikers played aggressive rallies to take the match point lead at 7-6. However, the Hy-Rollers kept their cool and saw out the challenge posed by Apex Strikers. Hy-Rollers won 9-7 to take an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the contest.
In the final mixed doubles tie, Jayanth Tammineedi and Padma Veda Manikonda overcame Trishanth Dandu and Rithika Kakarlamudi 4-2, 4-3 (7-5).
Jayanth and Padma Veda started the tie in a blazing fashion as they won the first set 4-2. In the second, Rithika and Trishanth rallied hard to take a lead of 3-1, but Hy-Rollers got the crucial break and held their serve to level the scores 3-3. In the tiebreak both the teams fought hard with minimum unforced errors against their names, but Hy-Rollers sealed the set at 7-5.

Hy-Rollers will next meet Hy-Panthers on August 22.
