The state government’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) has sought information from the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) regarding the action taken against 18 GHMC cricket teams which were illegally transferred from the GHMC to private managements.

In a letter addressed to the HCA secretary and dated March 30, NS Mohan Raja, additional superintendent of police, CID, RO-Cyberabad, asked the cricket officials to furnish the details of action taken and ‘if no action has been taken so far, it is further requested to take appropriate action against the 18 cricket clubs’.

“With reference to the subject cited above, it is submitted that during the course of investigation, it has come to notice that the commissioner, GHMC, Hyderabad, addressed a letter to the then Ethics Office and Justice (retd) L Nageshwar Rao, single member committee, HCA, requesting cancellation of voting rights of suspected illegal private cricket club managements

“The request was made on the grounds that the said clubs were allegedly holding 18 GHMC cricket teams illegally, until they establish valid authorization by producing documentary evidence explaining their transition from GHMC teams to private entities, including details of authorization by GHMC and approval by HCA in the AGM.

“During the course of investigation, it is required to ascertain the action taken by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) against the said 18 cricket clubs.

“Hence, it is requested to furnish information regarding the action taken by HCA against the said 18 clubs including Gowlipura/Sri Chakra Cricket Club, which is involved in the aforesaid crime, for which GHMC had recommended cancellation of voting rights of the suspected illegal private cricket club managements,” said the letter.

The letter was received in the HCA office, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal, on March 31 at 10.30 am.
