A Anirudh won the gold medal in the double barrel/single barrel open sight rifles 8mm calibre men individual event at the 2nd Telangana Super Big Bore Open Shooting Competition 2026 of the 300m Big Bore Events 2026 at the OCTOPUS Shooting Range, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad. Dilip Kumar PS came in second while Vikram Bhatnagar finished third.
Vikram Bhatnagar also won a silver in the double barrel/single barrel open sight rifles up to and less than 8mm calibre men individual event. The event was won by Mirza Eraj Atif, while Amit Sanghi finished third.
In the women’s category, Keesara Manasa stole the honours, while Zainab Faisal Yousufuddin was second and SRV Amarthya Millini was third.
The programme comprised three prestigious competitions – II Telangana Big Bore Shooting Competition 2026, Deccan Elite Open Big Bore Grand Prix 2026, and 2nd Telangana Super Big Bore Open Shooting Competition 2026. Athletes representing various States, districts and institutions across the country participated with great enthusiasm.
Throughout the championship, the shooters displayed dedication, discipline, technical precision, determination and sportsmanship. The concluding day saw the successful completion of the remaining events, bringing the championship to a memorable close.
The championship was further distinguished by the presence and participation of Anjani Kumar, former DGP, Telangana. Anjani Kumar graced the occasion and actively participated in the 2nd Telangana Super Big Bore Open Shooting Competition 2026, demonstrating his continued interest in shooting sport.
Anjani Kumar secured the bronze medal with a score of 75/300 in the double barrel/single barrel telescope/optic sight rifles up to and less than 8mm calibre (veteran men individual).
Speaking on the occasion, Amit Sanghi, senior vice president, National Rifle Association of India; president, Telangana Rifle Association; and vice president, Telangana Olympic Association, congratulated all participating athletes for contributing to the success and competitive spirit of the championship.
“Every athlete who stepped onto the firing point deserves our heartfelt congratulations. Your dedication, discipline and sportsmanship truly reflect the spirit of shooting sport. Medals recognise podium achievements, but the courage, preparation and commitment demonstrated by every athlete represent the real strength of the sport,” he said.
Sanghi congratulated all medal winners and finalists and encouraged athletes to continue training with determination and pursue excellence at the pre-national, national and international levels. He also appreciated the officials of the National Rifle Association of India, technical official Thriloknath M, the TRA managing committee members, coaches, volunteers and support staff for their contribution towards the professional, safe and successful conduct of the competitions.
Medal winners and outstanding performers from the three competitions were felicitated for their achievements at the prize distribution ceremony.
The championship provided a platform for experienced shooters, young athletes and emerging talent to compete in various 300m Big Bore categories. Participation from different states, districts and institutions added to the competitive character of the events.
