The first Legislators Sports Meet will be held at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on March 28 & 29.
Telangana ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Vakiti Srihari stated that this initiative aims not only to provide recreation and enthusiasm to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs), who are otherwise busy with their political and governmental responsibilities, but also to inspire the public to embrace sports and physical activity.
Legislators meet to promote the spirit of sports
They said the Telangana Government is organizing the first edition of the Legislator Sports Meet 2026 to promote the spirit of sports across the state and create awareness among students, youth, and people of all sections.
A preparatory review meeting for the event was held on Thursday at the Committee Hall of the Assembly. The ministers informed that this is the first time such sports competitions are being organized after the formation of Telangana State. Legislators from all political parties will participate in the event, setting aside political differences and demonstrating unity through sportsmanship.

Participating in the event were Adluri Laxman, government Whip Adi Srinivas, Sports Authority of Telangana (SATS) chairman Shivsena Reddy, legislators Raj Thakur, Anirudh Reddy, and Ramachandra Naik, along with SATS MD Dr Sonibala Devi
The event is being organized with the coordination of the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Sports Authority of Telangana (SATS), the state cultural department, and various other departments. Along with sports competitions, cultural programs will also be conducted for the participants.
The inaugural ceremony, which will be held at the LB Stadium at 3.30 pm on March 28, will be attended by chief minister Revanth Reddy, Assembly speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Legislative Council chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy, along with leaders of various parties, whips, MLAs, and MLCs.
