Andhra skipper K Anjali Sarvani’s all-round performance powered her side to a comprehensive 99-run win over Tamil Nadu in the BCCI Senior Women’s One-day Trophy at the ACA Cricket Academy ground in Fulung, North Guwahati, on Monday.

Tamil Nadu won the toss and invited Andhra to bat first. The Andhra openers Setu Sai V And P Ranga Lakshmi made a modest start by adding 33 in 11 overs before Setu fell for 23. V Pushpa Latha (0) went soon thereafter but last match’s centurions P Ranga Lakshmi and Henrietta Pereira steadied the innings with a 51-run partnership before Lakshmi perished. She scored 28 off 66 balls with two fours.

In walked skipper Sarvani and took charge of the proceedings. She added 51 off 55 balls with Henrietta as Andhra came back strongly. Sarvani contributed 31 off 32 balls while Henrietta made 16 of 23.

Henrietta fell for a well-made 46 off 79 balls with three fours. Thereafter, it was left to Sarvani to help her side cross the 200-run mark.

Sarvani added 40 with E Padmaja (14) before both of them fell in quick succession. Sarvani’s 55 came off 53 balls with six fours and a six. A Sireesha remained unbeaten on 23 off 22 balls with a four as Andhra reached 227.

Tamil Nadu got off to a good start with openers Rinaaz S (16) and Arshi Choudhary (21) putting on 44 for the first wicket but both left in quick succession and thereafter Tamil Nadu lost wickets at regular intervals and that prevented them from mounting any challenge.

Tamil Nadu skipper S Anusha made a topscore of 27 but lacked support from the others as they were bowled out for 128. Sarvani took three for 26, while B Anusha grabbed two for 21 and A Sireesha took two for 25.

Brief scores: Andhra 227 in 50 overs (Setu Sai V 23, P Ranga Lakshmi 28, Henrietta Pereira 46, K Anjali Sarvani 55, A Sireesha 23 not out; M S Aishwarya 3/32, Sarathi Priya N 4/51) beat Tamil Nadu 128 in 42.1 overs (Arshi Choudhary 21, S Anusha 27; K Anjali Sarvani 3/26, B Anusha 2/21, A Sireesha 2/25).
