Malaysian squash star Sivasangari Subramaniam is on a roll as she produced yet another dominant display on way to the title at the Silicon Valley Open 2026, while Egypt’s Mohamad Zakaria stunned Frenchman Victor Crouin to emerge champion. Both players displayed sublime touch on way to clinch the Gold event trophies.
The first match on finals night saw Sivasangari Subramaniam maintain her strong start to the season to claim her first PSA title of the new campaign. Sivasangari faced World No.20 Farida Mohamed in the final, a second Silicon Valley Open for Mohamed but a first at a Gold event level.

Mohamed had defeated World No.5 Olivia Weaver earlier in the tournament but struggled from the outset against a determined and focused Sivasangari. After claiming the opening two games in comfortable style, the World No.4 relaxed slightly, giving Mohamed hope of producing a comeback.
Sivasangari wins her fourth Gold event
The Los Angeles 2028-bound Sivasangari regrouped to pull away once again and converted the third game 11-8 to secure the title. The win marks a fourth Gold event victory for Sivasangari, following success in Brisbane and Zurich earlier this year.

“I’m really happy with how I performed the whole week,” said Sivasangari. “I try to stay as positive as I can and I think I’ve been doing well so far. This season, I’ve lost in three semifinals but won the Asian Games so I’m pleased with the start and keen to push on,” the Malaysian said.
Sivasangari said that her goal is now to win a major event and is working hard for that. “The main goal is to win a major event. I’ve already got Gold titles, and I think the next step is to win a major. At the beginning of the season, I told myself, ‘I want to break through this season, to go into the semis of the platinum events’, which I’ve already done. So, the goal now is to win a Platinum event and I think I can do it,” she added.
Zakaria stuns Crouin for title
The men’s final saw France’s Victor Crouin take on new World No.5 Mohamad Zakaria for the third time in their careers, with the Frenchman looking to maintain his unbeaten record against the 19-year-old. Crouin toppled top seed Diego Elias in the semifinals, whilst Zakaria came through a battle of generations to beat Mohamed Elshorbagy in four games.

Zakaria looked the fresher of the two in the opening exchanges, with No.3 seed Crouin clearly feeling the effects of his back-to-back five-set matches from the two previous rounds. Zakaria ensured his basic game was in perfect shape, giving Crouin no opportunities to gather momentum in the match.
Zakaria wins his second Gold event
Zakaria won the opening two games 11-5, 11-8 and continued to impress in game three. He ran through to 10-3, holding seven championship balls. He converted at the first time of asking to score his second Gold event win and his second title in four events.
“I’m very happy. Both with the result and with my performance towards every match,” said Zakaria. “I think I kept adding shots, kept adding pieces that were missing each day, and I think it was a great end to a great week.

“This is just the start for me, I feel. For me, it’s less about the result and more about the way that I’m playing. I think I’m heading in the right direction with my attitude, my squash and just overall game,” he added.
