Indian para-cycling team reaped a rich haul of 11 medals at the Korat Thailand Para Cycling Cup in Thailand.  The 10-member team, which is trained by the Aditya Mehta Foundation (AMF), bagged two silver and nine bronze medals.

The 15-year-old Lisha from Assam bagged two silver medals and two bronze medals to emerge the top cyclist from the Indian contingent. Vishva, Gujarat’s 16-year-old cyclists, bagged four bronze medals. Andhra Pradesh’s 22-year-old Pavan Kumar, Maharashtra’s Yogesh and Prashant, who is a Telugu athlete living in Maharashtra, bagged a bronze each.

Paralympian para-cyclist, Arshad Shaik, secured 4th place despite recently undergoing surgery for a fractured arm — a true display of grit and determination.

Athletes from 12 countries – Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, China, Tajikistan, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, and India – competed at the event which was held from December 5 to 7. The tournament gave the Indian team an invaluable exposure to high-performance international racing. The contingent also included two hand-cyclists, reflecting the growing depth of India’s para-cycling ecosystem.

Despite strong international competition, the para-athletes raced with heart, resilience, and pride — each medal carrying a story of perseverance and hope. The event also fostered friendships and meaningful learning exchanges with para-cyclists from other nations.
