India’s men’s and women’s skeet shooting teams delivered two bronze medals at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday, while double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker missed out on the podium in the women’s 10m air pistol event. The two bronze medals at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery took India’s medal tally in shooting to seven – four silver and three bronze.

The Indian women’s skeet team won the bronze medal, posting a combined total of 331. The trio of Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan put together a steady display across five qualification rounds to take third place on the podium. Parinaaz and Raiza led the scoring for India with matching totals of 111 hits each, while Maheshwari contributed 109 to complete the medal-winning tally.

China captured the team gold medal with an aggregate score of 357, setting a new Asian Games record. Kazakhstan took silver with 336 hits. Republic of Korea finished fourth with 324, followed by hosts Japan in fifth position on 321.
In the individual contest, Maheshwari missed out on a berth in the medal round after finishing outside the qualification cut with her score of 109. Both Raiza and Parinaaz advanced to the eight-woman final.
Raiza came close to securing a second medal of the day, finishing fourth in the final with 23 hits. Parinaaz bowed out in eighth place with eight hits.
China’s Jiang Yiting claimed the individual gold medal with a score of 35, setting both an Asian record and an Asian Games record. Thailand’s Isarapa Imprasertsuk took the silver medal with 31 hits, while Kazakhstan’s Assem Orynbay secured bronze with 28.

Indian men too make the podium
India’s men’s skeet team also made the podium, with Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill winning bronze following a shoot-off against Kazakhstan. The Indian trio registered a combined score of 346, finishing level with Kazakhstan before prevailing in the shoot-off to secure third place.
Anantjeet led the Indian effort in the qualification by finishing fifth with 119 hits, while Mairaj contributed 116 for 12th place and Bhavtegh added 111 for 29th. Anantjeet also qualified for the men’s skeet individual final but narrowly missed another medal, finishing fourth with 25 hits.
Maheshwari Chauhan contributed 109 to complete the medal-winning tally
Qatar’s Rashid Saleh Al-Athba won gold with an Asian record of 34 hits, while China’s Lyu Jianlin, a Paris 2024 mixed team bronze medallist, took silver with 33. Chinese Taipei’s Lee Meng-Yuan claimed bronze with 29.
Anantjeet had previously won the men’s skeet individual silver and team bronze at Hangzhou 2023. Incidentally, Anantjeet and Maheshwari had narrowly missed out on an Olympic medal together, losing the mixed skeet bronze medal match to China by a single hit at Paris 2024.
Manu, Esha and Suruchi miss out on a medal
Meanwhile, Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol individual final with 181.1. The two-time Olympic bronze medallist had qualified third with 579-20x and remained in medal contention during the elimination stages before bowing out in fifth place.

South Korea’s Choo Ga-eun won gold with an Asian record of 246.3, while China’s Shen Yiyao took silver with 241.3. Her compatriot Jiang Ranxin claimed bronze with 221.6.

Manu also narrowly missed out on a medal in the women’s 10m air pistol team event alongside Esha Singh and Suruchi Singh. The trio finished fourth with an aggregate of 1719, level on points with bronze medallists Vietnam, who edged ahead with 46 inner 10s – just two more than the Indians. China won team gold with 1735, while South Korea claimed silver with 1730.
Esha finished 15th in individual qualification with 572-12x, while Suruchi was 26th with 568-12x. Neither progressed to the final. Manu and Esha are also scheduled to compete in the women’s 25m pistol event, while Suruchi will return for the 10m air pistol mixed team competition.
