A total of 39 coaches from India and Algeria attending the ISSF ‘B’ Coaches Course which commenced on September 19, 2026, under the NRAI Education Program. The course is being conducted by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) in collaboration with the ISSF Academy.
The course has attracted a total of 39 coaches from India and Algeria, providing an excellent platform for coaches to further strengthen their technical knowledge, coaching methodology and understanding of modern international coaching practices across Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines.
The course is being conducted by John Leighton-Dyson of Great Britain as Rifle Instructor, Agathi Kassoumi of Greece as Pistol Instructor, and Davide Secondi of Italy as Shotgun Instructor. They are being assisted by Sanjeev Rajput as Assistant Instructor, Rifle, and Vidya Jadhav as Assistant Instructor, Pistol.
The inaugural session was attended by Pawankumar Singh, secretary general, NRAI; Dr Vesa Nissinen, director, ISSF Academy; Karoliina Nissinen, CEO, ISSF Academy, along with the Rifle and Pistol instructors and assistant instructors, who welcomed the participating coaches and wished them a successful and productive course.
Welcoming the delegation, NRAI president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said: “Coaching is the foundation on which the future of Indian shooting is being built, and this course is a reflection of that vision. Having coaches from India and Algeria learn together under ISSF Academy experts also speaks to the growing role India is playing in the international shooting community. I want to thank the ISSF for their continued trust and partnership, and I have no doubt this course will leave a lasting impact on our coaching ecosystem for years to come.”
Highlighting the scale of NRAI’s education efforts, Pawankumar Singh said: “The development of qualified coaches is an important part of the continued growth of shooting sport in India. Through our collaboration with the ISSF Academy, we are creating opportunities for coaches to learn from international experts, strengthen their technical knowledge and adopt modern coaching practices. The knowledge gained through this course will ultimately benefit our athletes and contribute to strengthening the overall shooting ecosystem.”
The course combines classroom learning with technical and practical sessions, providing participants with an opportunity to further develop their coaching skills under the guidance of experienced ISSF Academy instructors.
The ISSF ‘B’ Coaches Course forms part of the ongoing NRAI Education Program, which focuses on the systematic development and upskilling of coaches, judges, referees and other technical personnel involved in shooting sport.
