Aniketh Reddy scalped eight wickets to put Senior Team G in the driver’s seat against Senior Team H in the HCA Senior Men’s Super League at the HPS Begumpet cricket ground in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Team H, who were 68 for three in their second innings at stumps on Day 3, need 411 more runs to win.
Resuming at their overnight score of 150 for 4, Team H were rattled by Aniketh Reddy, who spun a web of deceit. He began the day by getting rid of Chandan Sahani (34) and then packed off Shanmukha Ashwin (0) and Khush Agarwal (19) before Ilyaan Sathani tried to salvage the situation for Team H.
Bhavesh hits double ton; Divesh, Ravi Teja, Dheeraj and Pranav notch up centuries
Ilyaan added 24 for the eighth wicket with Rathlavath Dinesh (5) and then 46 for the last wicket with Azharuddin Qureshi (4) but it was too little. Ilyaan remained unbeaten on 56 off 77 balls with seven fours and three sixes.
Aniketh finished with figures of eight for 59.
With a huge 423 first innings lead in hand, Team G went for some quick runs with Hrishikesh Simha leading the onslaught. He struck a 25-ball 33 with six fours before skipper Aaron George declared the innings closed at 55 for two in 15 overs.
Needing 479 for victory, Team H again had a horrid start with Sarthak Bharadwaj (0) being bowled by Ravi Teja T and Karan Yadav (4) was caught by Bhavesh Seth off Mohd Abdul Adnan.
Aryan Krishna keeps Team B’s hopes alive with an unbeaten century against Team A
At eight for two, Team H were in trouble again but Aravelly Avanish Rao and Mickil Jaiswal steadied the rocking boat with a 40-run partnership. Even as it looked like the duo would take the fight to the rival camp, Aniketh Reddy returned to get rid of Jaiswal (21).
At stumps, Avanish Rao was batting on 30 and Chandan Sahani on 13.
Sai Vikas, Aryan keep Team B hopes alive
Sai Vikas Reddy and Aryan Krishna struck centuries to keep Team B in the contest against Team A at the Eklavya cricket ground.
Replying to Team A’s 589 for seven, Team B reached 455 for six at stumps with Aryan Krishna batting on a magnificent 150 off 232 balls with 22 fours. Earlier, Sai Vikas Reddy had set the tone with 115 off 153 balls with 15 fours and two sixes.
Resuming at their overnight score of 159 for one, Team B lost skipper Rohit Rayudu for 46. Rohit and Sai Vikas had added 131 for the second wicket.
Sai Vikas and Aryan Krishna then added 59 for the third wicket before Sai Vikas fell. Aryan and T Harshwardhan Singh (45) kept the fight on with a 119-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Harshwardhan fell.
Aryan then found an able partner in Akhil Kumar Sankoju (28) and added 78 for the sixth wicket. At stumps, Rishab Baslas was giving Aryan company on 9 and the duo have added 23 for the unbroken seventh wicket. But with Team B still trailing by 134 runs, it is going to be quite a task for Aryan on the final day.
Team E in strong position after Prithvi takes five
Team E were in a strong position against Team F as the latter still need 328 for victory with seven wickets in hand.
After taking an 82-run lead, Team E went on to pile up the runs in the second innings. They scored 310 for nine with Rahul Buddhi scoring 72 and Shaik Sohail making 60. A Prithvi Reddy took five for 84 for Team F.
In their second innings, Team F against struggled and were reduced to 65 for three at stumps on the penultimate day.
Team C hopes hinge on Mayank Gupta
At the Dr N Kondal Rao cricket stadium, Mayank Gupta kept Team C in the hunt against Team D. At stumps, Team C were 134 for three with Mayank batting on 46 and Ravuri Sai Sharan on 23.
With no advantage to gain from the first innings as both teams had scored 249 each, the focus shifted to the second innings.
Team D ran up a huge 394 with opener Pranav Suryadevara hammering 177 off 111 balls with 20 fours and 10 sixes. He was ably supported by TVS Narayana Teja (39) and Ch Advaith Reddy (66; 72 balls, 5×4 4×6).
K Sri Harsha bagged four for 91 and Pranav Varma got three for 79 for Team C.
In their second innings, Team C lost openers Abhirath Reddy M (11) and GSK Reddy (14) with 49 on the board. However, Yash Satwalekar and Mayank Gupta steadied the boat with a 38-run stand before the former fell for 28.
Mayank and Sai Sharan then took the score to 134 for three with a 47-run partnership for the unbroken fifth wicket. Much will depend on this pair on the morrow.
