Telangana Postal Circle is all set to host the 2nd All India Postal Para Badminton & Para Table Tennis Tournament 2026–27 at Firefox Sports & Resorts, Moinabad, Rangareddy, from September 1 to 3, 2026.
The three-day national-level sporting event will bring together around 60 Postal employees with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)/Para employees from 11 Postal Circles across the country, providing them a national platform to showcase their sporting talent, determination and abilities.
Competitions will be held in Para Badminton and Para Table Tennis across four categories: standing men’s singles, standing women’s singles, wheelchair men’s singles, wheelchair women’s singles.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MP of Chevella Lok Sabha Constituency. Kale Yadaiah, MLA of Chevella, will attend as the special guest. Deepthi Jeevanji, international para-athlete from Telangana and recipient of the Arjuna Award 2025, will be the guest of honour. Nagapuri Ramesh, coach and Dronacharya Awardee, will also grace the occasion.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, D S V R Murthy, chief postmaster general, Telangana Circle, Hyderabad, said: “Following the tournament hosted by the Chhattisgarh Circle, Telangana is proud to host the second edition of the All India Postal Para Badminton and Para Table Tennis Tournament in Hyderabad. With a staff strength of around 5,50,000 employees, the Department of Posts is committed to encouraging sporting talent and providing equal opportunities for employees with disabilities to excel.”
He further said that the media has an important role in encouraging persons with disabilities to participate in sporting events and showcase their abilities.
“We appeal to the media to attend and cover the tournament and motivate our para-athletes. Such recognition and encouragement can inspire more persons with disabilities to take up sports and realise their potential,” he said.
As part of its efforts to promote sporting talent among employees, the Department of Posts will also felicitate participants and medal winners with awards, trophies and special mementos.
The tournament is expected to provide an opportunity for Postal para-athletes from different parts of the country to compete at the national level while promoting inclusivity, equal opportunity and a culture of sporting excellence within the Department of Posts.
The Department of Posts has also appealed to citizens, students, sports enthusiasts and members of the public to attend the tournament and extend their support and encouragement to the participating athletes.
The closing ceremony of the tournament will be held on September 3, 2026. Dolwani Hitesh, National para table tennis champion, will be the chief guest. Winners and participants will be felicitated with awards and mementos in recognition of their performance and participation.
