Abhirath Reddy M struck a blazing double century, but his effort was nullified by Mohd Abdul Adnan who ensured a thrilling two-run win for Deccan Chronicle on the second day of their Round 5 match in the HCA A Division (2-day) League Championship in Hyderabad on Friday.

Chasing Deccan Chronicle’s mammoth 508, Jai Hanuman lost an early wicket in the form of Sai Purnanand Rao (2) but Abhirath Reddy, who had led Hyderabad E-Champions to victory in the inaugural TG20 last month, stood like a rock as he began to fashion the recovery. Abhirath added 136 off 136 balls for the second wicket with A Prateek Reddy, who scored 45. Abhirath then added 137 off 132 balls for the third wicket with wicketkeeper P Arvind, who made a fine 57.

But with the score reading 421, Abhirath fell to N Ritesh after scoring a brilliant 241 off 185 balls. He struck 27 fours and seven sixes. Abhirath and Shanmukha Ashwin, who scored 50, added 115 runs off 84 balls for the fourth wicket.
Adnan wins it for Deccan Chronicle
Thereafter, Deccan Chronicle came back into the game as they pegged away at the Jai Hanuman resistance. Reduced to 440 for eight, Jai Hanuman were staring down the barrel.
However, Mudassar Hussain Md had other ideas. In the company of the No.10 and 11 batters, he sent shivers down the Deccan Chronicle players’ spine.

Mudassir Hussain added 37 off 29 balls with Divya Jain (6) before the latter fell and Jai Hanuman were still some distance away from victory. Mudassir and Krish Dontukurti (6 not out) then added 29 before Mohd Adnan ended the resistance by bowling Mudassar for a 42-ball 55 with three fours and six sixes. Jai Hanuman ended up with 506 – just two short of their rival score.
Mohd Adnan finished with figures of four for 75, while centurion M Pratyush Kumar took four for 78.
Avanish, Sacheit hit centuries
Aravelly Avanish Rao and Sacheit Bbinjrajka struck centuries to steer EMCC to a four-wicket win over Union Bank of India.
EMCC, who had lost Aman Rao Perala (1) and M Rana Charan (0) the previous night, resumed the chase at two for two. S Rohit Reddy and Avanish Rao steadied the innings by adding 106 off 115 balls before Rohit fell to Ronald Rodrigues for 36.
Pragnay Reddy (8) departed without much ado and Avanish too fell to Ronald Rodrigues after scoring 102 off 83 balls with 14 fours and two sixes.
EMCC lost S Venkat Karthik (0) at 148 and the game was wide open. EMCC still needed 167, while UBI just had to grab the last four wickets.
But Sacheit had different ideas. In the company of Harish Thakur, Sacheit took the fight to the UBI camp. The duo added a match-winning 172 off 154 balls for the unbroken seventh wicket to stun the UBI camp.

Sacheit remained unbeaten on 116 off just 88 balls with 15 fours and four sixes, while Harish was not out on 55 off 67 balls with four fours and two sixes.
EMCC finished with 320 for six in 54.1 overs.
Evergreen and Charminar post comfortable wins
In other matches of the day, Evergreen scored a three-wicket win over Balaaji with Vaishnav Reddy making an unbeaten 75.
Charminar posted a commanding six-wicket win over SCRSA with Karan Yadav (76) and Bhavesh Seth (88) scoring half-centuries.
The Sporting XI vs Budding Star game was a wash out as play could not take place due to wet ground conditions.
