Imperial and Charminar pulled off victories while Hrishikesh Simha struck a fine century under pressure to salvage a draw for Balaaji against Sporting XI even as rain washed out half of the matches on the second day of the HCA A Division (2-day) League Championship in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Aryan Krishna’s unbeaten century helped Imperial post a two-wicket win over R Dayanand. R Dayanand had made 270 and reduced Imperial to 123 for four at stumps on the first day.
Aryan, Abbas, Aniketh shine
Resuming at the overnight score, Imperial put up a majestic fight with Aryan leading the battle. Aryan remained unbeaten on 104 off 136 balls with nine fours as Imperial reached 273 for eight in 62.2 overs.
Charminar, who had run up a huge 427 for eight on the first day, proved quite handful for Combined District-1. Syed Ghazi Abbas did the star turn with a five-wicket haul.
Abbas claimed five for 33 in 11 overs as Combined District-1 were bowled out for 169 in 42 overs. Narayana Teja topscored with 42 and Ganesh G made 38.

Imperial’s Aryan Krishna struck an unbeaten century to help his side score a two-wicket win over R Dayanand
Hrishikesh Simha, who has been one of the standout performers in the HCA leagues in the last few years, proved that he is still in the pink of form. Hrishikesh struck a superb century against a strong Sporting XI.
Replying to Sporting XI’s 440 for six, Balaaji reached 270 for seven in 55.5 overs thanks to Hrishikesh’s 131-ball 153. His knock contained 17 fours and six sixers.
All-rounder Aniketh Reddy began the season with a bang as he struck an unbeaten 100 off 79 balls with 13 fours and three sixes as the game between Evergreen and Hyderabad Bottling ended in a draw.
Evergreen made 319 for seven with Ilyaan Sathani also getting an unbeaten 51. Hyderabad Bottling replied with 174 for three as Pranav Suryadevara hit an unbeaten 84 and Sagar Chaurasia made 52. In all, only 73.4 overs of play was possible in the game.
Rain washes out second day’s play in four matches
As expected, rain played spoilsport with the first round of games. The second day’s play was abandoned without a ball being bowled the SCRSA vs EMCC, Marredpally Colts vs Deccan Wanderers, Gemini Friends vs Cambridge XI and Army Ordnance Corps vs SBI matches.
With the teams getting six matches each in Group A and B and seven matches in Group C, each match is of great significance. The teams which lost out on this round of matches will be at a great disadvantage in the final tally.
