JSW, The Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) and Feldspar Group Holdings Limited (“Feldspar”) announced a long-term strategic partnership that positions IIS as the first high-performance sporting institution in Asia to deploy Feldspar’s sensor-embedded smart surface technology.

The partnership launches with the installation of a 45-metre Feldspar Smart Surface Track within the IIS High Performance Centre as part of Phase 1. The system integrates high-performance track surfaces with embedded sensors that capture real-time three-dimensional ground reaction force and biomechanical data on every footstep. Coaches and athletes receive immediate, actionable insights across force, power, speed, acceleration, stride length and frequency, split times and reaction times, enabling continuous performance analysis at scale.

Alvina Chen, founder, Feldspar, said: “Inspire Institute of Sport is the perfect first partner for this technology in Asia. This collaboration marks a major milestone for Feldspar and for the future of athletics in India and across the region. What we are building is more than just a faster track to optimise human performance. We are creating a new way to understand how athletes move, load and perform, while opening up new opportunities in sports data and fan engagement. The data generated at IIS will help shape the future of athletic development in this region and beyond.”

Putting world-class data in the hands of India’s elite athletes

Backed by JSW Sports, IIS is home to some of India’s most elite track and field athletes. The Feldspar system is designed to give those athletes and their coaching teams a measurable edge, enabling smarter training decisions, earlier identification of injury risk and faster development of individual performance baselines.

IIS and Feldspar to partner in India

“We are delighted to welcome Feldspar as a long-term partner at IIS. A core part of our mission has always been to give India’s athletes access to the best expertise, tools and environments possible. This technology allows our high performance team to work with a level of precision and insight that truly sets a new benchmark – not just for IIS, but for athletics across Asia. We look forward to what we can build together,” said Manisha Malhotra, president, Inspire Institute of Sport.

Gary Hall, high performance director, Inspire Institute of Sport, said: “What excites me most about the Feldspar system is how it brings laboratory-level insight into everyday training. Every stride, every footprint now tells a story; about power, fatigue, mechanics and potential. For our coaching team, that depth of real-time data fundamentally changes how we design and deliver training and performance programmes at IIS.”

For coaches, the platform enables continuous monitoring and instant feedback. For athletes, it delivers a complete performance profile from every session, capturing stride mechanics, fatigue patterns and recovery metrics. Data that was previously confined to specialist laboratory environments can now be captured in real-world training and competition settings at scale.

Feldspar’s track surface delivers 20% more energy return than the Paris Olympic track, helping athletes run more efficiently, train more effectively and reduce fatigue. The system is modular, portable, scalable and designed to meet World Athletics certification standards.

A long-term vision for Indian sport

The long-term vision includes further smart surface installations across India’s athletics ecosystem, helping to raise the standard of athlete development and support the country’s Olympic ambitions.

Central to this vision is the creation of India’s first integrated athletics movement database, laying the groundwork for AI-driven performance insights at scale.

The partnership also opens the door to cross-sport applications across India’s high-performance sports ecosystem, including cricket, hockey, football, boxing and kabaddi. The technology is designed to create a new layer of performance intelligence around athlete movement and loading, helping coaches optimise training, manage injury risk, support return-to-play decisions and support athlete development across disciplines.

“At JSW Sports, we have always believed that champions are built through the right environment, the right tools and a commitment to excellence. Feldspar’s technology at IIS is a statement of that belief. We are not just equipping our athletes with better data – we are building the foundation for a generation of Indian athletes who will compete and dominate on the world stage. This partnership also opens the door to exciting new sports IPs that we hope to bring to India along with Feldspar. We are excited about what we can build together, both on and off the field of play,” said Divyanshu Singh, CEO, JSW Sports.
