The TG20 logo was on Wednesday unveiled by former India player Ambati Rayudu, Tollywood actor Venkatesh Daggubati and music director S Thaman.
The TG20 is the brainchild of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and will be supervised by the TG20 Governing Council. The HCA said the landmark T20 league was poised to transform the cricketing ecosystem of Telangana.
It said the grand logo launch ceremony marked a historic milestone for the state, signaling the beginning of a bold, structured, and future-ready cricketing movement. TG20 is not merely a tournament, it represents a strategic and long-term vision to elevate Telangana cricket to national prominence.
The league will feature eight professionally managed franchise teams comprising 160 players from across the state, competing in 32 high-intensity matches over a 20-day tournament window. All matches are scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, with the tournament planned during June/July. The competition will follow a round-robin league format, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs, ensuring a highly competitive and engaging structure.
TG20 has been conceptualized as a critical bridge between grassroots cricket and elite competitions such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), aiming to provide players with high-pressure match exposure, professional infrastructure, and a competitive platform necessary to succeed at the highest level. Telangana has long been a reservoir of cricketing talent; however, the absence of a structured, high-visibility league has limited opportunities for players to transition onto national platforms. TG20 decisively addresses this gap by creating a sustainable and aspirational pathway for cricketers across all districts.

The league is driven by key objectives that include identifying and promoting talent from across Telangana, building a strong and sustainable cricketing ecosystem, delivering a world-class experience for fans and stakeholders, and attracting investment, sponsorship, and professional excellence into domestic cricket. The TG20 logo itself symbolizes energy, ambition, and the rising spirit of Telangana cricket, while the launch event showcased remarkable unity among stakeholders, underlining a shared commitment to establishing TG20 as one of India’s premier domestic T20 leagues.
The Hyderabad Cricket Association and the TG20 governing Ccouncil have extended their sincere gratitude to all stakeholders and supporters who have contributed to this milestone, and have confirmed that further announcements regarding franchise allocations, player auctions, and broadcast partnerships will be made shortly. TG20 is here, and with it begins a defining new chapter in the journey of Telangana Cricket.
The event was graced by Justice P Naveen Rao (Retd), HCA single member supervisory committee, along with dignitaries including DGP designate of Telangana C V Anand and special chief secretary – sports, Youth, ITE&C Jayesh Ranjan.
Also present were BCCI apex council member V Chamundeshwar Nath, former BCCI president N Shivlal Yadav, former international cricketers, HCA apex council members, TG20 governing council members, former state cricketers, current HCA Ranji players, cricket administrators, HCA members, prospective franchise owners, and leading corporate luminaries. The distinguished gathering reflected the widespread support and growing significance of TG20 across sporting, administrative, and business communities.
