Delhi Capitals needed two off two balls with the marauding David Miller on strike, but Prasidh Krishna denied the South African even a run as Gujarat Titans pulled off a one-run win in a thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday night.
Titans thus managed to post their first win in three matches in IPL 2026. On the other hand, Capitals suffered their first loss in three matches.

“Both teams played very good cricket. These types of close games you can’t point out anything. We could have been smarter in the chase. We lost wickets at crucial times. If not for that, we could have finished the chase off. Rahul kept the momentum on even after the powerplay, and despite wickets. He didn’t let the run rate go down,” said Delhi skipper Axar Patel.

David Miller hit an unbeaten 41 and almost pulled off a victory for Delhi Capitals against Gujarat Titans
There was drama a plenty in the final two overs with Gujarat Titans looking comfortably poised to win their first match of the season. However, Miller, who retired hurt at 12, returned to the crease in the 17th over with Delhi at 160 for five and still needing 51 for victory.
Miller and Vipraj Nigam smashed Mohd Siraj for 23 runs in the penultimate over to make the contest an interesting one. Nigam then hit Prasidh for a four off the first ball, but the bowler had the last laugh as he had Nigam (12) caught by Gill.
Kuldeep Yadav took a single off the next ball and Miller lofted the next one out of the ground and Delhi needed two off two balls. Miller, however, was unable to time the next ball well and forgo the chance to take a single. He sent Kuldeep back off the next ball and Delhi needed two off one ball.
Prasidh does the trick for Titans
Prasidh then bowled a slower one, which was short in length. Miller looked to pull but missed it altogether. The ball shaped away just before landing into Jos Buttler’s gloves. Miller and Kuldeep ran, but the latter fell short despite diving as Buttler hit the stumps at his end.
“All three games we have played have gone in the last over. (When Miller didn’t take the single, I thought) we have a chance to win! Those five or six runs in fielding makes a difference. Every effort counts. 210 we always thought on this wicket we were 10-15 runs above par. We thought if we bowl well, we should be able to win. Now I just need to sleep and see how I wake up tomorrow!” said Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill.

KL Rahul anchored the Delhi Capitals chase with a superb 92 off 52 balls
Delhi, chasing 211 for victory, got off to a blazing start with Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul adding 76 off 49 balls for the opening wicket before Nissanka fell for a 24-ball 41. Thereafter, Delhi slowed down as leg spinner Rashid Khan spun a web of deceit. He got rid of Nitish Rana (5) and the in-form Sameer Rizvi for a duck to leave Delhi at 101 for three.
“Quite happy (with) how things were coming. The win made it special. I had a break… tried to hit the right areas consistently. After long, I got such a wicket (like Rizvi’s). Yesterday, I had that in mind. If he hits me for a boundary, that’s fine… we have been part of close games. It was just about making sure we focus on each and every delivery. Happy to be on the winning side in the end,” said Rashid, who was named Player of the Match.
We want to be a team that consistently scores big runs, captain Gill sets the tone for Titans
Rahul and David Miller added 35 for the fourth wicket before Miller retired hurt on 12. Delhi lost a few quick wickets as the pressure mounted. Rahul, who waged a lone battle, fell to Siraj for a 52-ball 92 with 11 fours and four sixes. Delhi still needed 45 from three overs. Miller and Nigam then added 36 off just 14 balls to set the cat among the pigeons.
Earlier, skipper Shubman Gill was involved in two fruitful partnerships which helped Titans reach 210 for four. Gill added 60 for the second wicket with Buttler, who did the bulk of the scoring. Buttler scored 52 off 27 balls while Gill contributed 7.

After Buttler fell, Gill and Washington Sundar added 104 off 61 balls to put Titans on top. Gill made 57 and Sundar scored 44 in the partnership. Gill fell for 70 off 45 balls and Sundar made 55 off 32 balls.

“Amazing. Good to get the win. Very lucky. We desperately needed the win. Been searching for the runs a little bit. Played for long enough to know it (the runs) will come back. It’s a long tournament, but you need to start well. We desperately needed some points on the board. Rashid is outstanding. It’s the kind of wicket that suits him… crucial wickets at crucial times,” said Buttler, who got back among the runs in this match.
Brief scores: Gujarat Titans 210 for four in 20 overs (Shubman Gill 70, Jos Buttler 52, Washington Sundar 55; Mukesh Kumar 2/55) beat Delhi Capitals 209 for eight in 20 overs (Pathum Nissanka 41, KL Rahul 92, David Miller 41 not out; Rashid Khan 3/17, Prasidh Krishna 2/52).
