Beto scored twice and provided an assist as Everton gave their European hopes a huge boost and dented those of Chelsea with a 3-0 victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Beto beat goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with a clever finish in the 33rd minute after being released by the impressive James Garner, one day on from his first England call-up.

Beto also turns provider

After Everton ‘keeper Jordan Pickford denied Enzo Fernandez with two spectacular saves, Beto netted his second after 62 minutes, squeezing the ball past Sanchez. Beto then turned provider when Iliman Ndiaye made it 3-0 with a bending finish, condemning Chelsea to a fourth straight loss in all competitions.

Liam Rosenior’s side are now just two points ahead of Everton in the Premier League table, with Chelsea sitting sixth and the Toffees in eighth spot.

Bournemouth hold Man United

AFC Bournemouth twice came from behind to snatch a point in a dramatic 2-2 draw with 10-man Manchester United at Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Both goalkeepers starred in a goalless first half before Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 61st minute. Ryan Christie netted Bournemouth’s first leveller, though Manchester United quickly restored their lead thanks to a James Hill own goal.

Second-half substitute Junior Kroupi then rescued a fifth straight draw for Andoni Iraola’s side from 12 yards after Harry Maguire brought Evanilson down in the box, leading to a red card for the Red Devils defender.

With neither side able to find a winner, Bournemouth, now unbeaten in 11 matches, remain in 10th spot, now three points behind seventh-place Brentford. Meanwhile, Manchester United are third, with a six-point cushion to Liverpool in fifth.

Brighton dent Liverpool’s CL hopes

Danny Welbeck scored twice as Brighton & Hove Albion dented Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League hopes with a 2-1 victory over the reigning Premier League champions on Saturday.

Welbeck struck the decisive blow in the 56th minute at Amex Stadium, which extended Liverpool’s winless league run to three matches. Brighton hit the front inside the opening 15 minutes through Welbeck’s towering header, but Milos Kerkez equalised soon after following a mistake by Brighton captain Lewis Dunk.

However, Fabian Hurzeler’s side would retake the lead early in the second half, thanks to Welbeck’s simple finish to hand Liverpool a second defeat in three matches.

The result sees Liverpool stay in fifth on 49 points. Brighton, meanwhile, are 10th on 43 points, and within six points of the Reds.

Fulham boost European hopes with a 3-1 win over Burnley

Fulham boosted their hopes of clinching a European place with a 3-1 comeback win over 10-man Burnley at Craven Cottage. Marco Silva’s side had fallen behind to Zian Flemming’s goal on the hour but responded in style to dent Burnley’s push to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Josh King soon got Fulham back on level terms, pouncing on a Martin Dubravka mistake before turning provider to tee up Harry Wilson for his 10th Premier League goal of the season. Having already completed the turnaround, substitute Raul Jimenez then added a late third from the penalty spot, having been impeded by Josh Laurent, who received a straight red card.

Fulham are now up to ninth, two points behind Brentford in seventh, while Burnley remain 19th, still nine points behind Nottingham Forest in 17th.

Leeds and Brentford play out a goalless draw

Leeds United and Brentford had to settle for a point apiece as they battled to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road.

Leeds were frustrated in attack as their Premier League goal drought stretched to four games, with a wayward glancing header from Pascal Struijk representing their clearest chance. Brentford’s best opening also came in the second half, but Mathias Jensen crashed a shot into the side netting with both Kevin Schade and Igor Thiago calling for a cross.

While Leeds are now winless in six Premier League games, they boast a four-point cushion over 18th-placed West Ham United, who travel to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Brentford, meanwhile, missed the chance to go level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea, though they do move back above Everton and into seventh on goal difference.
