Telangana sports minister Vakiti Srihari said that all arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers to be held in Hyderabad from March 8 to 14.
“Hyderabad, which is recognized as a global city, is going to host another prestigious international sports event. We have completed the arrangements for the conduct of the Federation International Hockey (FIH) Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers under the auspices of the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS),” Srihari told media persons at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
“These competitions, which will be held from March 8 to 14, will be held at the Gachibowli Hockey Stadium. India, Austria, England, Italy, Korea, Scotland, Uruguay and Wales are participating in this tournament. This tournament is crucial for qualifying for the World Cup 2026,” he said.

“SATS has provided all facilities for conducting the tournament without any shortcomings. Astroturf field with international standards, high security, modern facilities, and best accommodation arrangements have been made for the players.
“Coordination is held with representatives of the Fédération Internationale de Hockey and Hockey India regarding the facilities. Also, arrangements have been completed with comprehensive coordination between the state government departments,” he added.
“All teams that are going to participate in this tournament have already reached Hyderabad. And all facilities required for practice and accommodation for the teams is being provided as per international standards,” the minister said.
Srihari added that the teams were practicing at the modernized Gachibowli Astroturf Stadium and none of them has had a complaint with the facilities. “We also plan to organize tours of heritage sites in the city and entertainment programs for international delegates and players.

“We are proud to say that we are able to successfully organize such international tournaments due to the encouragement provided by the state government to sports under the leadership of chief minister Revanth Reddy,” he said.
“Due to the cooperation and encouragement of the chief minister, the Telangana sports department is moving towards significant development within two years,” he stated.
The minister also informed that the second phase of the Chief Minister’s Cup 2025 was successfully organized in five districts from the village level to the state level. “I would like to inform you that the Telangana sports department will move forward with more programs to promote sports in the state,” Srihari said.
