The ministry of youth affairs and sports has asked Ravikanth Chauhan, secretary of the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India to stop using the name India or Indian in any of the activities of the federation. It also said that the federation has not been recognized as a National Sports Federation by the ministry.

This is quite a significant and decisive development in the field of differently abled cricket in India.

Following complaints and an official review at the government level, it was found that the team operated by Ravikant Chauhan was unauthorized and functioning in violation of established rules and jurisdiction. Notably, the concerned organization is registered under the Karnataka Societies Act, 1960, with its operational jurisdiction limited to the State of Karnataka. Despite this, activities were being conducted at the national level under the name of the Indian Differently Abled Cricket Team.

In this regard, the Differently Abled Cricket Control Board of India (DCCBI) had previously issued multiple warnings and lodged objections with the concerned authorities. Additionally, Ravikant Chauhan had already been removed from his position by his parent body, the Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India (PCCAI). Office bearers of the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India have also clarified that Ravikant Chauhan is no longer a member of the organization.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, a formal complaint was also filed on the Prime Minister’s grievance portal. Following this, the Government of India clarified that the said team was not authorized and must cease operations with immediate effect.

Major victory for truth: Rasheed

Reacting to this development, Haroon Rasheed, secretary of the Differently Abled Cricket Control Board of India, termed it a major victory for truth and justice. He stated: “This is a historic step toward safeguarding the interests of differently-abled cricket. We have always worked with transparency and in accordance with the rules, and we remain committed to protecting the rights and future of differently-abled players.”

Social activist and complainant Haroon Rasheed further stated that the fight would continue until its logical conclusion and would not be stopped under any circumstances.

According to available information, the GST Commissioner’s Office in Rajasthan has initiated action regarding alleged fake invoices prepared by Ravikant Chauhan. A detailed departmental scrutiny of documents and financial transactions is currently underway. Officials have indicated that several significant findings have already emerged in the preliminary investigation, and further legal proceedings are in progress.

Additionally, action by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also expected soon in connection with prior complaints. Sources indicate that coordination among various agencies is underway to examine necessary evidence in the case.

Meanwhile, an important letter issued by the Government of India has further intensified the matter. Experts believe that this letter may serve as a key piece of evidence in the investigation process, potentially strengthening the legal position against the accused party.

The Differently Abled Cricket Control Board of India has welcomed the decisive action taken by the Government of India and the Ministry of Sports, expressing hope that this step will further strengthen the dignity, transparency, and credibility of differently abled cricket in India.
