Five cricketers from Osmania University selected for South Zone team for Vizzy Trophy

Five cricketers from Osmania University (OU) have been selected to be part of the South Zone team in the prestigious Vizzy Trophy Inter-University cricket tournament to be held in Goa from March 1 to 17. The selected players are Paras Raj, Anvith Reddy, Dharamapuri Sathwik, S Vamshhi Kumaar and VM Danush.

It is after a very long gap of 26 years that Osmania University has earned this recognition. The Osmania University team had recently won the South Zone Inter-University cricket tournament for the academic year 2025-26. The triumph of Osmania University in the South Zone meet had paved the way for its players to find a berth in the South Zone team.

This achievement holds special significance, as after a long gap of nearly 26 years, Osmania University has once again reached this high level of performance and earned recognition at the national inter-university level. The selection of five players to the South Zone Vizzy Trophy team is a historic milestone and a matter of great pride for the University, says a release from the secretary, Inter-University tournaments, Osmania University.

This success is the result of the dedicated efforts of the Department of Physical Education, Osmania University, and the effective coordination of the secretary, Inter-University Tournaments, along with the commitment and discipline of the student-athletes.

We sincerely express our gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, and his entire administrative team for their continuous encouragement, guidance, and support extended to the Department of Physical Education. Their support has played a crucial role in helping the University reach the highest level of inter-university competition during the Vizzy Trophy South Zone Tournament 2025–2026.

We are confident that with the continued support of the University authorities, Osmania University will achieve many more medals and accolades in future state, zonal, and national-level tournaments.

The selected players have to report from the coaching camp from February 19 to 24 to Dr Revanna C, organizing secretary, Director of Physical Education, JSS Science and Technology, University of Mysuru, Karnataka.

Players should report alongwith the following documents to be eligible to participate in the South Zone Vizzy Trophy tournament. The documents are: Identity Card, SSLC and PUC marks card, eligibility particulars with first admission receipt and present academic year admission receipt for their university/college, stamp size recent colour photograph.

After the coaching camp, the selected players should report at Goa for the BCCI coaching camp scheduled to be held from February 26 to 27.

The travelling expenses of the athletes from their respective universities to the zonal camps shall be borne by the concerned universities where the athletes are presently studying, says a release from Dr Revenna.

South Zone squad: Paras Raj, Anvith Reddy, Dharamapuri Sathwik, S Vamshhi Kumaar, VM Danush (all Osmania University), Macneil Hadley Noronha, Samarth MP, Sree Praghajeeth RA (all REVA University), Rishav Appachu M, Samarth Hegde, Hari Rajiv (all VTU, Belagavi), Iyappan B, Anovankarvs (Anna University), Likith S Gowda (University of Mysore), Deehraj Gowda (PES University, Bengaluru).
