A V College claimed the team championship with nine points at the Osmania University Inter-College Boxing Championship at Nizam College in Hyderabad on Saturday. Anwar-ul Uloom finished second with eight points to their credit and MJ College of Engineering were third with five points.
M Keshava Yadav of Bhavans defeated Nithin in the final of the Super heavy weight category to be the champion boxer of the tournament. In the heavy weight category, Mohammed Abdullah of MJCET got the better of Syed Kazeem of Anwar-ul Uloom College.
B Sohan Kumar of Methodist College defeated Md Nuaman Ahmed of MVSR to win the cruiser weight crown, while K Dinesh Karthik of St Joseph beat Aakarsh Gopi of Badruka to win the light heavy weight category.
In the middle weight category, M Aaditya Mourya of Nizam College got past G Vinay Babu of Loyola to emerge champion.
B Tarun of AV College dominated B Jaidatta Goud of IIMC on way to the light middle weight title and A Vamshi Krisha of S P College defeated Vishnuvardhan of GDC, Khairtabad, to lay his hands on the welter weight title.
In the light weight category, Md Abdul Hadi Omari of GDC, Falaknuma, defeated Mohammad Malik of GDC, Kukatapally, in the final. The Bantam weight title was won by Anwar-ul Uloom College boxer Md Abdul Hadi Omair who defeated R Chandra Sai of S P College.
The fly weight title was won by P Dhwarkash Babu of A V College who defeated T Vivek Vardhan of Dr B R Ambedkar College.
Prof Srinivas, principal, Nizam College, had inaugurated the tournament on Friday.
K Parashuram, SHO, Abid Police Station, was the chief guest and distributed the medals, trophies and certificates. Prof Rajesh Kumar, secretary, ICT for men, welcomed the guests. Prof K Deepla, director, DPE, OU, and Dr K Krishna, organising secretary, attended the event.
