Aditya hammers a century, bowlers strangle Manipur as Hyderabad cruise to 189-run win

Aditya Javvaji struck a fine century to help Hyderabad begin their Vinoo Mankad Trophy campaign on a rousing 189-run win over Manipur at the Sanosara Cricket Ground A in Rajkot on Thursday.

Hyderabad made merry with the bat as they posted 334 for five on the board and then the bowlers took charge of the proceedings as Manipur were bowled out for 155.

Batting first, openers Aditya Javvaji and P Advith Reddy (9) made merry as they duo scored 64 off 55 balls with Aditya doing the bulk of the scoring. Aditya made 50 off 34 balls while Reddy contributed 9 off 21 balls before falling to S Kaiku Meetei.

Aditya was joined by Shaik Rehaan Roshan and they piled on the runs though the scoring rate had fallen a bit. The duo scored 89 off 107 runs with Aditya contributing 57 off 53 balls before retiring hurt. Rehaan made 31 off 54 in the partnership.

Aditya faced 87 balls and scored 107 with nine fours and six sixes.

After Aditya’s departure, Rehaan took charge and with Arhaan Satwalekar (25) for company, he added 76 off 71 balls for the third wicket. Rehaan made a quickfire 45-ball 55 in the partnership while Arhaan contributed a sedate 16 off 26 balls. Rehaan scored 86 off 99 balls with six fours and four sixes.

After Rehaan’s departure, the Hyderabad batters struggled a bit but M Durga Ujwal struck an unbeaten 40 off 23 balls with four fours and an equal number of sixes to push Hyderabad to 334. Skipper Yashveer Goud made 23 and Jashwanth Kanneboina contributed 23 to the total.

Chasing a formidable score, Manipur were nowhere in the contest as the Hyderabad bowlers kept a tight leash on the rivals. Parth Sharma struck the first blow when he had Ishorchandra (1) caught by Ved Reddy.

Parth later returned to mop up the tail and finish with a four for 22 figures.

In between, Manipur battled for some time with skipper Lucky (27), Muhammad Ali Karim (36), Robinson Sougaijam (32) and Naesh Hussain (33) getting starts but none of them could build a longer innings and Manipur were bowled out for 155. Ved Reddy took three for 38 and M Durga Ujwal bagged two for 16 while Yashveer Goud got a wicket for 21 runs.

Brief scores: Hyderabad 334/5 in 50 overs (Aditya Javvaji 107, Shaik Rehaan Roshan 86, M Durga Ujwal 40no) beat Manipur 155 in 45.1 overs (Md Ali Karim 36, Robinson S 32, Naesh Hussain 33, Parth Sharma 4/22, Ved Reddy M 3/38).

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on Thursday announced the support staff for the Hyderabad senior women’s team for the 2026-27 season.

Mamta Kanojia has been appointed as the head coach, while Harsha Harinarayan has been named the assistant coach and Bogi Shravani is the fielding coach.

Kreethi is the strength & conditioning coach, while Anjana Chowdhary has been named as the physiotherapist for the team. S Monica Preeti will be the team manager.
