The South Korean side featured Olympic recurve team gold medallist and reigning individual world champion Kang Chae-young, alongside Lee Yunji and Oh Yejin.

The final remained locked at 2-2 after the teams tied the opening two sets 54-54 and 56-56. India made the decisive move in the third, winning it 55-51 to take a 4-2 lead. South Korea scored 54 in the fourth before 17-year-old Kumkum’s final arrow’s 10 helped India match the score and seal the title.

India miss Olympic archery mixed team quotas

Earlier, Kumkum and Dhiraj Bommadevara won silver in the mixed team event after going down 5-3 against China’s Zhu Jingyi and Li Mengqi in the final.

The defeat meant India missed the opportunity to obtain the one men’s and one women’s LA 2028 Olympics quotas available to the recurve mixed team champions at Aichi-Nagoya.
