Kolkata Knight Riders continued their late-season resurgence, winning their fourth match in a row in the TATA IPL 2026 with an eight-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals in Delhi on Friday night. The Knight Riders seem to have turned round the corner, and this surge will be a cause of worry for the other teams.
Allen hammers unbeaten century to power Kolkata to eight-wicket win over Delhi Capitals
Speaking on Star Sports’ Amul Cricket Live, Aditya Tare touched upon about KKR’s resurgence. “The TATA IPL is won by teams that build momentum at the business end and KKR with back-to-back victories have turned their season around when it mattered the most. They have some great match-winners, and now they have started to fire together as a unit. Their spin attack has come back to life, which has given them an edge. Their pace attack is picking up regular wickets. The form of Finn Allen and Cameron Green with the bat is looking good. They lost five games in a row at the start, but now they have turned it around and will fancy their chances of getting into the race for the top four,” Tare said.

On Delhi Capitals’ batting collapse against Kolkata Knight Riders, he said: “Delhi’s middle-order collapse put them under too much pressure. Their batters failed to shift the momentum back onto the bowlers. There was a clear lack of intent. You rarely see such a passive stretch of play in T20 cricket, where a team manages to score only 10 runs off 30 balls in the middle overs, you might as well be bowled out for 120. But at least try to attack and put the pressure back on the bowling side. That was completely missing from DC’s batting. Credit to Ashutosh Sharma for his late blinder, which helped Delhi salvage some respectability. Otherwise, it was the KKR spinners who completely dominated those middle overs and never let the game slip.”
On Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fearless batting, the Mumbaikar said: “Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting approach is high-risk, especially in the powerplay. He will sometimes get out going for big shots but that’s his natural game. He doesn’t let pressure build. He attacks from the very first ball. That’s what makes him who he is. He scored a century against Gujarat Titans last season in Jaipur. That’s the kind of innings he needs to remember. Hopefully, he can extend those batting spells and spend more time in the middle. It is phenomenal to watch him take on the best bowlers in the league during the Powerplay.”

On Gujarat Titans’ middle order batting issues, he said: “Gujarat Titans have struggled to finish games early. Their batting coach Matthew Hayden is focusing on this issue. He is working with players like Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar to help them close out matches without letting them go deep. Too often, the chase gets tighter than it should. You don’t want to waste the strong start given by the top order. So, this is an area GT need to improve. On the bowling front, they look well settled. They have quality options in the pace attack, and Rashid Khan is bowling well in the spin department.”
