The United States kicked off their FIFA World Cup campaign in style with a commanding 4-1 victory over Paraguay at the Los Angeles Stadium, producing an impressive attacking performance led by Folarin Balogun’s first-half brace. Bosnia and Herzegovina opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukić rose highest to power and scored a header from a corner, giving his side the early advantage. Canada’s persistence was finally rewarded in the 79th minute when substitute Promise David, who had been on the pitch for just 121 seconds, delivered a perfectly weighted chipped pass for Cyle Larin to finish calmly and bring his side level.
Having entered the match without a FIFA World Cup victory or point to their name, Canada showed resilience and belief throughout the contest to secure a historic result. Bosnia and Herzegovina, meanwhile, were left frustrated after leading for much of the match but unable to hold on for all three points.
