Tulsi Patle hogs limelight with a gold and silver finish at 6th YAI Youth Open Regatta 2026

Tulsi Patle of NSS had a field day on the last day of the 6th YAI Secunderabad Club GMR Sports Youth Open Regatta 2026.

Tulsi claimed the top position in the ILCA 4 girls’ event. Krithika Vishwanathan of SSC and Progya Das of EMESA came in second and third respectively.

Tulsi, however, had to settle for a silver in the ILCA 6 girls’ event. Shital Sendhav also of NSS bagged the gold, while Maanya Reddy of SSC sailed away with the bronze.

Ravi and Shringhari seal Optimist titles with a race to spare at 6th YAI Youth Open Regatta

The host Secunderabad Sailing Club enjoyed a memorable regatta on home water. Shringhari Roy was the standout performer, winning the Optimist Main girls’ title with a flawless record, while the club also took gold in the 420 girls’ class through Ishi Gupta and Diya Ajay Patel.

B Ravi Kumar of the Telangana Sailing Association dominated the Optimist Main boys’ fleet. The week also carried an international flavour, with Malaysia’s Khairul Ilzani Mohd Afendy taking silver in the Optimist Main boys’ class, and sailors travelling from clubs across the country to compete.

The regatta closed with the Optimist team racing, the most tactical format in the sport, where Trishna Sailing Club were crowned champions after a deciding final race against the Telangana Sailing Association.

The championship drew to a close on Saturday with the prize distribution and closing ceremony at the Secunderabad Sailing Club, marking the end of six days of racing on Hussain Sagar.

The regatta, a YAI National Ranking Event and National Junior Ranking Event, brought together 115 sailors in 105 boats from clubs across India, racing in the Optimist, ILCA, 420 and 29er classes.

In keeping with the spirit of a youth event, every competitor and every member of the support staff was presented with a commemorative hoodie, recognising not only the medal winners but every young sailor and volunteer who made the week possible.
