Samiksha downs Insuma on way to gold in the CBSE National Taekwondo Championship

Telangana’s Samiksha Sundaravadivel defeated Mizoram’s Insuma Tamang 8-3 to win the gold medal in the Under-14 Girls Under-38kg weight category at the CBSE National Taekwondo Championship 2026 in Haryana on Friday.

Samiksha Sundaravadivel, a student at The Shri Ram Universal School in Hyderabad, had an easy outing in the final on way to the title. The championship witnessed participation from 1,044 players from across the country, making it a highly competitive national-level sporting event.

Representing The Shri Ram Universal School, Samiksha delivered an exceptional performance throughout the championship, demonstrating tremendous dedication, discipline, confidence and sportsmanship. Her gold medal is a matter of immense pride for the state and the entire school community.

The achievement is particularly significant as Samiksha has brought national-level recognition to Telangana in taekwondo through her outstanding performance.

Her success has been achieved through dedicated training and guidance under Surender Singh Thakur, NIS Telangana State taekwondo coach, whose systematic coaching and continuous support have contributed to her development as a competitive athlete.

Dr Jyothi Reddy, director and founder principal of The Shri Ram Universal School, Hyderabad, appreciated the outstanding achievement of Samiksha and also acknowledged the efforts of the coach Surender Singh Thakur in supporting the students’ sporting journey.
