Telangana athletes showcased outstanding performances at various national-level water sports competitions being held across the country. Competing in canoeing, rowing and swimming events in Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Rajasthan, Telangana athletes have collectively won 18 medals, bringing laurels to the state at the national level.

At the 27th Sub-Junior National Rowing Championship, being held in Kolkata, West Bengal, from August 5 to 10, the Telangana contingent competed in 10 events and secured six medals, comprising three gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

In the Under-13 boys’ double sculls, M Yashwanth and S Shivaram won gold. Ch Dhatri and R Taruni secured gold in the Under-13 girls’ double sculls, while A Varshitha won gold in the girls’ single sculls.

In the girls’ pair event, S Devendr​amma and K Lavanya won silver.

The bronze medals were won by Aamir, Lalu, Nithin and T Upendra in the boys’ four and N Aarushi, V Amani, V Akshitha and R Niharika in the girls’ four.

Telangana sports minister Vakiti Srihari, sports advisor to the government of Telangana A P Jitender Reddy, special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shiva Sena Reddy, and managing director Dr A Sonibala Devi congratulated the athletes for bringing glory to Telangana at the national level.

Sports Authority of Telangan extended its heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes who made the State proud by showcasing their talent on the national stage. The Authority wished them continued success and expressed hope that they will achieve many more victories in the days ahead, bringing further pride to Telangana and the country.

The officials also appreciated the coaches whose dedicated efforts contributed to the athletes’ success.
