Tamil Nadu reigned supreme at the 7th CISCE Girls Volleyball National Tournament at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. They won the Under-19, Under-17 and Under-14 finals to make a clean sweep of the titles at stake in the tournament.
In the Under-19 final, Tamil Nadu had an easy outing against West Bengal as they cruised to a straight sets victory to lay their hands on the coveted title.
Tamil Nadu brooked no challenge as they took the first set at 25-12 and though West Bengal tried to put up a fight in the second set, Tamil Nadu girls were much stronger. They won it 25-18 to emerge champs.
In the semifinals, West Bengal defeated Maharashtra in straight sets 25-15 and 25-18 but Tamil Nadu had to wage a battle against Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The visitors managed to eke out a victory in three sets. The hosts won the first set at 26-24 but Tamil Nadu came back strongly to win the second one at 25-23 in a keenly fought contest. They took the decided at 15-11 to book their final berth.

In the Under-17 final, Tamil Nadu girls brooked no challenge as they swept past Andhra Pradesh & Telangana in straight sets. The Tamil Nadu girls won the first at ease as they posted a 25-18 win. In the second set, the hosts tried to assert themselves but failed to get past Tamil Nadu, who took the set 25-20 and also the title.
In the semifinals, AP & Telangana had an easy outing against Bihar & Jharkhand. They won the match 25-11 and 25-19. On the other hand, Tamil Nadu were made to sweat it out against Karnataka in a three-set contest.

Karnataka began well by taking the first set at 25-20 but Tamil Nadu girls were in no mood to give it up so easily. They fought back valiantly to win the second set 25-18 to take the contest to the decider. In it, Tamil Nadu proved stronger than the Karnataka girls and won it 15-8.

In the Under-14 category, Tamil Nadu had to fight past Karnataka to lay their hands on the crown. Tamil Nadu took the first set 25-18 but had battle it out for the second set. They won it 25-20.
In the semifinals, Tamil Nadu defeated Kerala in straight sets at 25-23, 25-10, while Karnataka were made to struggle by a fighting Maharashtra. Karnataka managed to edge Maharashtra in three sets. They won the first set at 25-16 but lost the next one tamely at 10-25. However, they pulled up their socks to win the third one at 15-7.
The tournament was hosted by Nasr School, Khairatabad. It commenced with a briefing on the rules and regulations for the participating coaches and managers of 15 teams representing various states and regions across India by Mir Mohiuddin Mohammed, principal, Nasr School, Khairatabad.
The three-day tournament witnessed outstanding performances, spirited competition and exemplary sportsmanship. The young athletes displayed remarkable discipline, resilience, teamwork and a true passion for the sport.
Volleyball Federation of India announces new policy for professional volleyball leagues
The championship was graced by Shazia Kariappa, member of the senior women’s Indian volleyball team selection committee, former coach of the Indian women’s volleyball team and current coach of the South Central Railway women’s volleyball team. Shiv Kumar, CISCE Council observer, was also present.
The closing ceremony was graced by Pavitra, international volleyball player, as the guest of honour. The tournament concluded with the announcement of the CISCE Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 girls volleyball teams by Mir Mohiuddin Mohammed. He congratulated the selected players and conveyed his best wishes to the teams, who will represent CISCE at the forthcoming SGFI Tournament.
The championship successfully celebrated sporting talent, friendship and the enduring values of teamwork, fair play and perseverance among the young athletes of the CISCE community.
Results: Under-14 (final): Tamil Nadu beat Karnataka 25-18, 25-20. Semifinals: Tamil Nadu beat Kerala 25-23, 25-10; Karnataka beat Maharashtra 25-16, 10-25, 15-7.
