St Francis Women’s College defeated defending champions Villa Maria College 38-29 to emerge champions in the Osmania University Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament for Women 2025-26 at the St Francis College Indoor Stadium.
Pari was the star hoopster for St Francis as she topscored with 15 points. Sania got 10 and Shristi made 8. For Villa Marie Jahanvi and Harshitha stood out as each of them scored 10 points and Ayesha got 6.
Loyola Academy girls finish third
For the third place, Loyola Academy defeated St Ann’s College for Women, Mehdipatnam, in a thrilling encounter. Loyola managed to edge out their rivals 28-26.
Deepthi, single-handedly, steered Loyola to the third-place finish. She scored 21 of the team’s 28 points. For St Ann’s, Blessy got 9 and Heeba scored 7).

St Francis down Loyola, Villa Marie thrash St Ann’s
In the semifinals, St Francis College scored a convincing 40-32 win over Loyola Academy. Pari and Sania scored 13 points each, while Shrishti got 10.
In the other semifinal, Villa Marie thrashed St Ann’s College for Women 36-18 in what turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. Ayesha scored 15 and Jahanvi got 14 for Villa Marie. Blessy scored 7 and Heeba 9 for the losers.
Professor Uma Joseph, principal of St Francis College for Women, and Sr Professor K Deepla, secretary BOCIUT (men & women), distributed the prizes. Syed Farooq Kamal, head of the department of physical education, St Francis College for women, read the college report while Dr Amita Daniel, physical directress, proposed the vote of thanks.
