Sports Torch rallies being held in all mandals

The Sports Torch rallies, organized under the auspices of the Sports Authority of Telangana as per the directions of the Telangana Sports Department, are being held across the state. These rallies aim to provide extensive publicity for the second phase of the CM Cup 2025 and to raise awareness among rural athletes.

These sports torch rallies are being successfully held in several mandals across all 33 districts of the state, instilling enthusiasm among the athletes. District collectors, police commissioners, SPs, additional collectors, and officials from various departments are enthusiastically participating in the programs being held in several district centers.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Thoorpu Nirmala Jayaprakash Reddy participated in the program held in Siddipet district on Friday. Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shiv Sena Reddy and local MLA Mega Reddy participated in the program held at the Wanaparthy district center.

Similarly, district collector B Santosh and local MLA K Rajesh Reddy participated in the program held at the Medak district center. In another program, Medak district collector Rahul Raju, additional collector, and other officials participated.

Likewise, district collector Ila Tripathi, MLA Suryanarayana, and others participated in the program held at the Nizamabad district center. Officials stated that these sports torch rallies will continue until January 17.

Nithya Gandhe in Indian contingent for Asian Indoor Athletics

Nithya Gandhe has been selected for the 2026 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships to be held from February 6 to 8 in Tianjin, China. The Indian team will leave for the meet on February 3.

Indian squad: Men: Manikanta Hoblidhar (60m), Tejas Shirse (60m hurdles), J Adrash Ram (high jump), CV Anurag and Shahnawaz Khan (long jump), Praveen Chithravel (triple jump), Samardeep Singh Gill, Tajinderpal Singh Toor (shot put), Tejaswin Shankar (heptathlon).

Women: Nithya Gandhe, Abhinaya Rajarajan (60m), Moumita Mondal, Pragyan Prasanti Sahu (60m hurdles), Pooja (high jump), Ancy Sojan, Moumita Mondal (long jump), Yogita (shot put), KA Anamika (penthathlon).
