Secunderabad Stallions gallop past Golconda Gladiators 105-72, reach sub-junior boys final

Secunderabad Stallions galloped to a record on way to victory over Golconda Gladiators in the sub-junior boys’ category at the Sub-Junior & Youth League 2026 for boys & girls, conducted by The Hyderabad District Basketball Association, at the YMCA Secunderabad.

Secunderabad Stallions cruised to a 105-72 win as they maintained a clean slate in the league phase and enter the final. On the way, Secunderabad Stallions created a record of sorts by becoming the first team to score more than 100 points in a single game.

It was a well-fought match till half-time as both sides slugged it out on the court, the scoreline at the break was 40-37 in favour of Secunderabad Stallions. The match started well for both the teams as they depended on fast plays and scored at a brisk pace.

Itihaas and Manideep kept scoring for Golconda Gladiators, while Karthik and Rishik dominated the show for Secunderabad Stallions, who managed to lead a five-point lead by the end of the first quarter (24-19).

In the second quarter, Kenny, Manvith and Vasist combined well to continue the scoring spree of Secunderabad Stallions. Ansh and Moksha played in tandem to help Golconda Gladiators reduce the deficit to just three points as Seunderabad Stallions led 40-37 at half-time.

After change of ends, Itihaas and Ansh continued to find the net for Golconda Gladiators but that was not sufficient to overtake their rivals. The Karthik and Kenny show continued as they got 25 of the 29 points scored by Secunderabad Stallions and that gave them the edge of Gladiators.

Karthik was playing at a different level as he tanked three 3-pointers in the third quarter alone to help his team take a decisive 69-54 lead at the end of third quarter.

In the last quarter too, Karthik displayed quality offense with as many as four 3-pointers for a match haul of 48 points. With Vasist and Kenny chipping in at regular intervals, Secunderabad Stallions scored a massive 36 points to close out the match 105-72.

In another late evening match in the boys’ section on Saturday, Golconda Gladiators got the better of Charminar Chargers 57-46 to qualify for the semifinals.

Results:  Sub-Junior boys: Secunderabad Stallions 105 (Karthik 48, Kenny 24, Vasist 20) beat Golconda Gladiators 72 (Itihaas 19, Manideep 19, Ansh 16) Half-time: 40-37.

Golconda Gladiators 57 (Manideep 27, Itihaas 10, Ansh 15) beat Charminar Chargers 46 (Rahyhan 11, Akhil 10, Dhruv 9) Half-time: 20-32.
