Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) officials felicitated international chess Grandmaster Raja Rithvik for his outstanding performances at prestigious international chess tournaments held recently in France and Spain, where he secured silver and bronze medals, bringing pride to Telangana and the country.
Raja Rithvik, who returned to India after showcasing remarkable talent at international competitions in Europe, met Sports Authority of Telangana chairman K Shiv Sena Reddy and vice chairman & managing director Dr A Sonibala Devi at LB Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday. They congratulated him on his achievements and honoured him with a shawl.
Speaking on the occasion, K Shiv Sena Reddy said that Raja Rithvik’s successive victories at the international level were a testament to the immense sporting talent among the youth of Telangana. He stated that, under the leadership of chief minister A Revanth Reddy, the state government and the Sports Authority of Telangana were extending all possible support to sportspersons and encouraging them to excel at the global level.

Dr A Sonibala Devi said that Raja Rithvik’s success in international chess while pursuing his engineering education was a reflection of his discipline, dedication and commitment.
She noted that the guidance of his coach N Rama Raju and Ukrainian Super Grandmaster Alexander Goloshchapov had played an important role in his progress. His achievements, she added, would serve as an inspiration to young sportspersons.
Rithvik wins silver and a bronze
At the recently held Mennecy International Chess Championship in France, Raja Rithvik scored 7 points in 9 rounds, remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament and securing the silver medal. Subsequently, at the Pontevedra International Chess Championship in Spain, he once again scored 7 points in 9 rounds and won the bronze medal.
Speaking on the occasion, Raja Rithvik expressed his gratitude to the Sports Authority of Telangana for its continued encouragement and support. He said that he would strive to achieve even better results in upcoming international chess tournaments and bring further laurels to the state and the country.
