Saqlain spins Team G to 131-run win over Team E; Shaunak shines for Team B

Off-spinner Saqlain Arafat spun Team G to a 131-run win over Team E in the HCA Senior Men’s Super League at the ECIL cricket ground in Hyderabad on Friday.

Team E, who had taken a 20-run first innings lead, had let Team G off the hook as the latter went on to score 334 for five before skipper Aaron George declared the innings closed.

Needing 315 for victory, Team E faltered and failed to put up a decent fight as Saqlain made his presence felt.  Team E lost wickets at regular interval and that hampered their chances of pulling off a victory. The only meaningful partnership came for the fifth wicket between P Arvind and Shaik Sohail (21). It yielded 57 runs.

Saqlain takes eight in the match

Team E were bundled out for 183 with Arvind making a topscore of 74 off 67 balls with six fours and seven sixes. Saqlain finished with five for 30, while Aniketh Reddy got two and Divesh Singh grabbed two. Saqlain, who had taken three for 75 in the first innings, had match figures of eight for 105.

In another match, Team D scored a seven-wicket win over Team A with Naman Agarwal scoring an unbeaten 40 in the second innings to lead Team D to victory.

At the HPS Begumpet ground, Team B scored a crushing innings and 29-run win over Team C.

After following on, Team C put up a better fight than the first innings but it was not sufficient to stave off a loss.

Resuming at their overnight score of 129 for three, Team C lost Mayank Gupta (20) and Yash Satwalekar under the 200-run mark. Mayank and Yash had 68 for the fourth wicket before the former fell. Yash went on to make 54 0ff 99 balls with nine fours.

The only other resistance came from Pranav Varma who made a fighting 89 off 98 balls with six fours and eight sixes. Pranav as the last batter to fall as Team C folded up at 329.

Left-arm spinner Shaunak Kulkarni took four for 90. In the first innings, Shaunak had taken five for 40. He finished with figures of nine for 130.

Team B 600 in 138.3 overs vs Team C 242 in 77.1 overs & 329 in 83.5 overs (M Abhirath Reddy 59, Yash Satwalkar 54, Pranav Varma 89, Shaunak Kulkarni 4/90).

Mohd Siraj appointed Ranji captain, Milind is his deputy

The Senior Selection Committee of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on Friday appointed India player Mohammed Siraj as captain of the Hyderabad senior team for the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season.

The committee, which meet at the RGIC Stadium on Friday, also appointed CV Milind as the vice-captain for the season.

In the absence or unavailability of Mohammed Siraj, Milind will assume the role of captain and lead the Hyderabad team for the concerned match/matches, says a HCA release.

Anirudh hits a century

Anirudh Srivasathan kept Team C in the game with a fighting century against Team B in the Under-23 Emerging multi-day tournament.

At stumps on the second day, Team C, replying to Team B’s 307, were 276 for nine.

Anirudh struck a patient 130 off 237 balls with 16 fours and a six and CS Pavan Karthikeya made 61. M Varun Tej bagged three for 64.

Earlier, Abdul Rafeay Bin Abdullah remained unbeaten on 135 off 241 balls with 19 fours as Team B made 307. M Koushik Reddy took five for 59.

Aneesh bags five but Bengal lose to Hyderabad

Aneesh Rathi took five wickets but his effort went in vain as Bengal lost to Hyderabad by four wickets in the former’s tour to Hyderabad.

Batting first, Bengal Under-19 side were shot out for a lowly 133 with Ved Reddy bagging three for 38.

In reply, Hyderabad managed to reach 135 for six with Hari Om Singh scoring 50 and Arhaan Satwalekar getting 31. Aneesh Rathi had figures of five for 36.

D Janmesh Singh and Vikash Gupta hit centuries to help Team E win by 112 runs via the VJD Method against Team C in the Under-19 one-day Super League.

Batting first, Team E went on to make 459 for five with Janmesh Singh scoring a 79-ball 150 with 11 fours and 12 sixes. Vikash Gupta got 105 off 77 balls with 12 fours.

In reply, Team C were restricted to 232 for four despite Jashwant Mote scoring an unbeaten 123 off 115 balls with 17 fours and two sixes.

S Nipun Reddy took seven for 25 to set up Team B’s eight-wicket win over Team A.

Nandala Aneesh missed out on a century by one run but his effort ensured a 36-run win over Team D.
