Sanjana Sirimalla won both her matches but was unable to prevent DRC Sports Foundation from going down fighting to Soo Collective 3-4 in their inaugural tie of the Hyderabad Pickleball League Conference A at Ready Set Pickle in Madhapur, Hyderabad.
DRC Sports Foundation began the contest on a losing note as their men’s doubles pair Sanjith Reddy and Mahesh Reddy went down tamely to Soo Collective’s Garine Pranav and Mayank Shete 5-15.
The women’s doubles pair Diya Mattipati and Sanjana Sirimalla restored parity by beating Pinnamneni Brahmmani and Lakamsani Prasanthi 15-6.
Soo Collective, however, came back strongly by winning the men’s singles tie. Rishil Gupta got the better of Shivadeep Reddy 15-9.
Sanjana ups the ante
Needing a win badly, Sanjana Sirimalla upped the ante. Sanjana brooked no challenge as she brushed aside the challenge of Minal Shaik Kalyan 15-2 to help DRC Sports Foundation restore parity again.
For the first time in the contest, DRC Sports Foundation took the lead as their men’s doubles second pair K Manoj Kumar Reddy and Shiva Kumar Koduri overcame a fighting Kritin Kothapally and Nandu in what was a closely fought affair. The DRC pair defeated Soo Collective duo 15-11.
However, the mixed doubles pair of Diya Mattipati and Mahesh Reddy were unable to pull off victory for DRC Sports Foundation. The duo went down fighting to Kritin Kothapally and Minal Shaik Kalyan in a pulsating affair. They lost 12-15 as Soo Collective restored parity at 3-3.
In the ensuing game breaker, Soo Collective won 25-22 to clinch the match. Shiva Kumar Koduri, Sanjith Reddy, Mattipati Diya, Mahesh Reddy, Sanjana Sirimalla and Harshini Viswanatha turned up for DRC Sports Foundation in the Game Breaker. For Soo Collective, Kritin Kothapally, Rishil Gupta, Minal Shaik Kalyan, Pranav Garine, Prashanti Lakamsani and Mayank Shete appeared on the court.
