India’s Roshibina Devi become the first Indian to win medals in wushu at three consecutive editions of the continental showpiece as she bagged a silver in the women’s 60kg sanda event at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Indian lost 2-0 to the People’s Republic of China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall.
Roshibina had made her first Asian Games podium with bronze at Jakarta 2018 before upgrading to silver at Hangzhou 2023 and matching that result at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

Her Hangzhou medal had made Roshibina only the second Indian to win an Asian Games silver in wushu after Wangkhem Sandhyarani Devi, who finished runner-up in the women’s 60kg sanda at Guangzhou 2010, as per Olympics.com.
Roshibina booked her place in the final in Japan after beating Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the semifinals on Wednesday.

She had assured herself of a medal by beating Macao China’s Chu Man Sin on points difference in the quarterfinals, having opened her campaign with another points-difference victory over Bangladesh’s Shika Khatun in the round of 16.
Wushu made its Asian Games debut at Beijing 1990. The sport is broadly divided into taolu, where athletes perform judged routines, and sanda, the full-contact combat discipline featuring punches, kicks and throws.
Roshibina’s silver was India’s only wushu medal at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 as the seven-member contingent concluded its campaign across the sanda and taolu disciplines.
Aryan (men’s 56kg sanda) was ousted in the quarterfinals while Aparna (women’s 52kg sanda) and Vikrant Baliyan (men’s 75kg sanda) bowed out in the round of 16. In taolu, Mayanglambam Suraj Singh – in his third Asian Games appearance – finished 11th in the men’s changquan. He finished 10th at Jakarta 2018 and fifth at Hangzhou 2023.
Nyeman Wangsu finished 15th in the women’s changquan. Hanjabam Langlentombi Devi placed ninth in the women’s nanquan and nandao combined event.
