Ramanjaneyulu wins Open title, Sathwik triumphs in junior category

RVSS Ramanjaneyulu won the title in the Open category of the 236th Brilliant Trophy Chess tournament at Brilliant Grammar High School in Dilsukhnagar on Sunday. B Sreetej and D Sai Pavan got second and third places with 5 points each out of 6 rounds.

In Juniors category, P Sathwik Reddy of Sri Gayatri e-Techno School, Manikonda, won the event by scoring six points out of six rounds. Vikyath Thallapally and Chetan Maale got second and third places with 5.5 points each out of 6 rounds.

Over 1400 athletes for 58th Senior National Kho-Kho

Over 1,400 athletes from all across the country are participating in the 58th Senior National Kho-Kho Championship (Men & Women) 2025-26 that kick-started at the Railway Stadium in Kazipet on Sunday. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and minister of sports and youth services Vakiti Srihari. The inaugural ceremony was a grand spectacle featuring a parade by teams, an impressive NCC march-past and vibrant cultural performances.

The championship features teams representing 26 states, 6 Union Territories, 4 institutional units, and 3 associate member associations, highlighting the vast reach and growing depth of Kho Kho across India. The matches are in league-cum-knockout format with pre-quarter and quarterfinal matches on January 14, and semifinals and finals on January 15.

“Kho-Kho sport should be encouraged, and I assure that the state government will fully co-operate to make this Championship a grand success,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Telangana team for School National Football meet

The Telangana under-17 football team will participate in the Under-17 69th School National Football Championship to be held at Panipat in Haryana from January 12 to 16. The Telangana team will face Manipur, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Karnataka in Group E.
