Sree Grandha and Venkatesh Pratiksha along with some good ground fielding helped Hyderabad post a six-run win over Madhya Pradesh in the BCCI’s Women’s Under-19 T20 Trophy at the KCA cricket ground in Mangalapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday.
After posting a modest 113 on the board, Hyderabad’s bowlers stuck to their task. Mediumpacer Sree Grandha got Hyderabad off to a dream defence as she struck twice in the first over to reduce Madhya Pradesh to 0 for two.
Sree Grandha bowled opener Vanya Shukla (0) with the second ball of the innings and three balls later she bowled skipper Ishana Swami (0). Sree Grandha then returned to trap Bhoomi Singh (5) leg before in her second over. Madhya Pradesh were reduced to nine for three
Sonam Yadav and wicketkeeper Yuti Kacheshwar then took the fight to the Hyderabad camp with a 47-run partnership. This is when Pratiksha turned the match. She ran out Yuti (22) to break the momentum. It was also sweet revenge for Pratiksha, who was run out by Yuti when Hyderabad batted.
