Pakistan fast bowler Aiman Anwer announces retirement from international cricket

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday (August 26) confirmed that fast bowler Aiman Anwer has announced her retirement from international cricket with immediate effect.

Anwer, who made her debut for Pakistan women in 2016, went on to play in 37 T20Is, coincidentally becoming the 37th player to play for her team in T20Is. She also featured in eight ODIs for Pakistan.

Her final appearance for the national team came at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa.

The 34-year-old has 29 T20I wickets to her name along with four in the ODI format. Anwer was also part of the Pakistan squad that featured at the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2018, 2020 and 2023.

She also played in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2022, which was hosted in New Zealand. Pakistan’s league stage fixture against England was the pacer’s final ODI outing for the team.

Meanwhile, Anwer’s last T20I appearance for Pakistan was against West Indies in the group stage fixture at the T20 World Cup in 2023.
