Nikhat Banu of RBISC and Ali Mohammed of HDTTA clinched the women’s and men’s singles titles at the 6th Shree Gujarati Seva Mandal Telangana State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2026, conducted by Shree Gujarati Seva Mandal Table Tennis Academy, in Secunderabad on Friday.

Nikhat Banu brooked no challenge as she swept past K Shresta Reddy of GSM 4-1. Nikhat proved too strong for her challenger and but for a blip in the second game, she was at the top right through the contest.

Nikhat took the first game at 11-9 but suffered a lapse and went down 9-11. However, she pulled up her socks and won the next three games at 11-4, 11-7, 11-7 to take home the title.

In the semifinals, Nikhat breezed past Devisree of GSM 4-0, while Shreshta had to wage a grim battle against TL Harshitha of AWA, before prevailing 4-3.

In the men’s singles final, Ali Mohammed defeated Dr V Chandra Chud of GSM 4-2. Ali began well with a 11-8 win in the first game but lost the next one at 7-11. However, he took the next two games at 11-5, 13-11 but suffered a blip on the radar by losing the next one 7-11. But he rallied superbly to win the next one at 11-6 and clinch the title.

In the semifinals, Chandra Chud defeated Trishal Mehra of AWA 4-1 and Ali edged past Swarnendu of AVSC 4-3 in a closely fought match.

In the Under-15 girls’ singles final, B V Mahima Krishna of AWA defeated Riddhi Toro of LFHSA 3-2. Mahima lost the first game at 8-11 but rallied to win the next two games at 11-8, 11-6. However, Riddhi hit back by taking the next game at 11-5 but Mahima won the next one 11-7 to wear the crown.

The boys’ singles title was won by Virat Sagar of SGUTTA who defeated Sriram Siddharth of AVSC 3-1.

In the Under-17 girls’ singles, K Sri Saanvi of SPARS defeated Aniyah Anand of LFHSA 3-1 and the boys’ title was won by B Harshith Reddy of SGUTTA who defeated Yashvasin of AWA 3-1.

The Under-19 girls’ title was taken by Aniyah Anand S of LFHSA, who thrashed GSM’s HS Nikhita 4-0. The boys’ title was claimed by Arush Reddy of SGUTTA who defeated M Rishab Singh of GTTA 4-1.

The winners and runners-up were rewarded with exciting prizes, including trophies, medals, cash prizes, certificates, and gift vouchers from Techno Sport, the tournament’s valued gifting partner.

Janak Brahmbhatt, secretary of GSM, was the chief guest. K K Maheshwar, president of TSTTA, was the guest of honour. Nagendar Reddy, secretary TSTTA, and other guests were present at the closing function.

For the past 26 years, GSM has been a strong promoter of table tennis in the state. Under the dedicated coaching of Venugopal, GSM has nurtured and developed numerous players who have represented the state and the nation. Under-19 boys’ singles final:  Arush Reddy (SGUTTA) beat M Rishabh Singh (GTTA) 4-1 (11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6).

Men’s singles final:  Ali Mohammed (HDTTA) beat Dr V Chandra Chud (GSM) 4-2 (11-8, 7-11, 11-5, 13-11, 7-11, 11-6). Semifinals: Dr V Chandra Chud beat Trishul Mehra (AWA) 4-1 (11-8, 12-10, 6-11, 11-9, 11-5); Ali Mohammed beat Swarnendu (AVSC) 4-3 (7-11, 11-7, 6-11, 16-14, 6-11, 13-11, 11-9).
